Over the past couple of weeks, I haven't been getting noticed, at all. Usually if I go to the coffeeshop, supermarket, bar, etc there will usually be women that will at least make eye contact with me and some throw in hair touches, etc. Approaches were easy when that was happening. Now women are avoiding even making eye contact with me. If they do accidently make eye contact with me, they look away instantly. It's like an "oh shit" reaction. On approaching I get eye rolls, no responces, walk aways, and polite hello and continue walking. I can't think of anything I am doing differently. I know this is starting to effect my confidence, how do I deal with this and get back on track?

Tony Robbins used to do this teaching where he said that we produce in our life, that which we believe we want. He said that the brain was a highly complex machine and sometimes it would want illogical things to protect us. Basically, our brain manifests things in our lives for a reason, even if that is an illogical reason. For example a lot of people equate success with responsibility and work, so their brain sabotages themselves to prevent them from being successful to avoid the stress of success.

The reason I mention this is that after a breakup or a stressful hookup, I used to associate pain and effort towards starting up something new with a new woman. So my brain would work against me. While I was making eye contact, by body language and facial expression would be all wrong. I would come across as creepy and insecure when, I used to come across as confident and suave. When I would start conversation, I would be awkward and fall back into old negative habits. Everytime I tried to move forward my brain would find a way to block me.

This would usually end when my brain associated enough pain to being alone, that it outweighed the pain of starting something new.

This is actually a very common occurrence. Common enough that I've heard multiple gurus address it in their inner game sessions.

I seriously doubt something like, being gun-shy after a break up, requires psychological SPAM. Wait till you get your degree before you start prescribing SPAM.

haha ok maybe i imagined it a little more intense than it actually is. i suppose the fact you recognize it sort of defeats half the problem anyway.

And "newbie2thagame" apologies if i came across as an all-knowing quack, CBT (cognitive behaviour therapy) has very little to do with prescribing medicine and your typical white coat psychiatrist.
