So basically, it is probably a mix of two things. Some of these girls actually have boyfriends. Not all of them though. Some of them are shit testing you. A lot of people will give you routines to blast through this shit test (and this is a shit test that tons of guys encounter so there will be plenty of info on this specific one online) but I personally take a different approach. Rather than blasting through this problem, wouldn't it be better to eliminate it before it even happens? I say spend a little longer on building attraction before going for the number close. Also, you DID say you got the numbers. Therefore, there IS some attraction, or else you wouldn't have it to begin with. In this case, you WILL need to be careful (I have a rule that I do NOT game chicks with BFs) but if you pick a girl whose number you have, you can potentially casually get her to go with you somewhere (like a date, but without the title - see slywalker's sticky on 10 things I wish someone taught me) and pretty much ignore the fact she said she had a BF...IF it is a shit test. You need to determine shit test from legitimate excuse first. How do you do that? Just text her a bit =) You'll get a good read.

I agree, a lot of bf's are fake. I once opened a girl and was blown out bc she pointed to her "boyfriend" right next to her, only to watch my wing plow through the shit test, find out the bf is fake, then makeout, number, and f close.

On the flip side, I've number closed a girl with a legit bf, only to have her flake.

Experience will help you distinguish.

Most important though, if you keep running into girls that are taken, then SARGE MORE. There are ALWAYS plenty of single girls everywhere, you just have to find them...it's a numbers game.
