Plain in simple: My one-itis is still madly in love with her ex, though he's an ass who emotionally abuses her every waking day. I've constantly told her that she deserves much better than this. I've tried time and time again to prove that I can be a better boyfriend, to which she replies, "I know I love him. My heart is in pain and I literally can't breathe when I hear him say he doesn't want me anymore."
I know it seems hopeless and that I should move on but besides the fact that she IS my one-itis, there is one more thing that keeps me so far into the friend zone that I can't see the sun: If I leave her alone in this misery, I'm afraid she might kill herself.
So here are the options I've come up with and their predicted their results:
1) Be her bestie and pick her up when she's down = We both feel miserable
2) Beat her ex to a pulp => She cares for him, I'm miserable
3) Help them get back together => She's happy, I'm miserable
4) Move on to make myself feel better => She has no friends--> possibly suicidal
5) Kill her ex=> She's miserable => suicidal => I'm miserable
Guys, can you think of ANY way that I might be able to salvage this situation for her and me to both be happy?

Both of you are now happy!

Thanks for the advice. Thomas, thanks for the link, I'll make sure to remember that technique whenever I run into this kind of situation again. And bomb, thanks for your input, I think that's the right thing to do.
Many thanks gentlemen
