Is it me or recently have there been more and more people complaining of why something isn't working or how can they fix something they did wrong instead of learning from their mistakes? I mean like a month ago you could come on and look for advice instead of read a million questions from people who aren't being successful?

Is this not the same thing?

I see what you mean. There are more and more newbies wanting simple solutions and well, that is one of the purposes of the forum. Sharing thoughts and ideas and discuss problems. But from what you write I imagine that you would want it to be more ideas sharing and less problems...

I dont know why that is but I can imagine a few contributing factors.

1. A lot of the really good people seldom write here anymore (Like Jsmooth, Rye Lee and The Doctor). Others write but they comment only on other peoples posts.

Why is this? Well, a lot of the people who have truly mastered this are done with that part of the journey and set out to hunt bigger game. A lot of the exceptional guys stay on here to help others but seldom sarge themselves, they know they can so they dont have to do it all the time. This gives them less new things to write about.

2. There are a lot of new people on who just started out and are in need of advice. They are of course interested in reading about things on their level so most of the posts people write are direct answers to newbie questions.

3. The scary one, maybe pickup is not fashionable anymore. We have been dreading that it may become to well known but what if it is in fact dying out. The good ones leave it behind and the newbies are not interested enough to become really good. It is just a glorified hobby. When I started writing here, like 2.5 years ago or something it seemed to me that a lot of the guys who started around the same time as me were dedicated to fix this part of their life no matter what. I rarely see that kind of dedication anymore.

4. You have developed yourself, the posts you miss are still there but you have leveled up so now they seem pretty lame and low level for you. I spent some time a while ago searching through my first posts and working my way forward, man that was fun. You cannot believe the stuff you believed when you were new. And I will most likely say the same about the stuff I write now if I look back in a year. We develop, that is a good thing. I used to be sad that people never shared their routines, now it doesnt matter at all.

5. We have a long line of moderators but not many of them write very much. Hobbit and Chief are among the active ones but som of the others are very absent. We need you guys. These people have a lot of experience and can help a lot of people in a lot of ways. Sharing is caring.

As for the way the complaints posts are written... We cannot really change that but yes it is annoying when people just throw out a question and expect someone else to solve it. These people seldom go very far and that too scares me. Who will take over? Where is the next generation?

Immature and impatient people are incapable of self-reflection and learning from their own mistakes. Instead of looking inside themselves for answers, they want other people to solve their problems for them because it takes less effort.

I never thought of it this way it just became part of me and who I am. I guess as I practiced and went out more and developed more of a social life, meet new people, and came up with my own openers and routines it didn't occur to me some of the answers to the questions they asked became basic for me. Even though there are a lot of newbie questions this forum is still the shit :) it helped me develop my own style of game when i started.

And Smartbomb,

I agree completely with what you said here, I always stopped to think after every success or failure to reflect on how to improve my game. So some people it must just come naturally. :)
