The very simple thing of remembering someones name just dosn't stick with me. I have a problem of after exchanging names 5 seconds later it slips my memory. Anyone have some simple ways to always remember a name for atleast the period of time your with people.

Say their name immediately after:

Knoxide: "Hi, I'm Knoxide"
HB: "I'm HB"
Knoxide: "HB, it's very nice to meet you."

If you do this, you force yourself to regurgitate the name right back to her. You'll also be putting the name to the face and won't forget it.

Make a game out of it. Do something quirky to remember their name and get them to ask why. Explain it's how you remember names. Maybe tell a DHV story about how you forgot a girls/some girls names once.

As "The House Bunny" is one TV right now, do what Shelley does. Chicks love the movie, and the scene where she growls names to remember them is hilarious.

When I'm meeting a bunch of suits in a board room, I spread out their business cards directly in front of me in corresponding positions to where everybody is sitting. So if "Mr. Smith" is to my right, I place his card on the right side. If "Mr. Johnson" is to my left, I place his card on the left side and so forth. When I do this, very rarely will I need to refer to the business cards to remember their names. The act of placing their cards in those positions forces me to see their names in writing, their seating placement, as well as their faces. It's visual, written, verbal, and "geographical" memory.

It might sound "nerdy", but when I meet people in bars/clubs, I basically do the same thing. After I meet people and on the way to the next set, I'll jot a simple note on my smart phone. Alexa - goofy br. Cheryl - smarty Bl, and so forth. Again, very rarely will I need to refer to my "notes" to remember their names. The very act of writing these names will force you see their names in written form. It will force you to say it at least once to yourself. It will force you to associate their names with their physical/personality traits. You'll remember. . . .and practice this enough times and you won't even need to write anything down for anything less than 8 or 10 people.
