Matt's "we just pulled off a caper" thing was so awkward and contrived - if I was a girl and someone came up to me with that I'd be outside looking for the short bus. Simeon's opener about Dirty Dancing was not much better, but at least it was something that girls could feel like they could get into.
I understand that the content of the opener doesn't matter as much as the fact that there is an opener and if you're smooth with it, you can speak a different language and the girls will dig it. I am just surprised that they were so successful with such a dumb opener that was delivered so awkwardly.
I'd love to hear some more natural alternatives - just stories of when you struck up a conversation with someone, responding to something in your environment (even if it's not true). Mystery's "hey did you see the fight outside?" is good, even though it's a lie and some guys (esp. me) are not good making up the details of a convincing lie on the spot.

I live in Europe and I'm wondering if they have made a DVD of it with the full season or where I can view these episodes?
Thanks

I wouldn't use it myself BUT (and it is a big but) that being said I have seen field vids of Matador using that opener to great effect and he never got that reaction.
^Moral of the story - if you are good enough you can quite literally open with ANYTHING, including "I like pickle juice"^
As for the Dirty Dancing opener, I like it, and here's why:
It is indirect, interesting, and appears spontaneous. But most importantly Dirty Dancing captured the imagination of an entire generation of females - many of whom are our targets and it just might bring up some of those positive emotions when you open thier set. That has to be a good thing. _________________ Regards,

The game is easy to start, the referee blows the whistle. It's where you go from there that matters.
