Hi all,

This is a great forum! I'm from BC, Canada. I've been reading through a ton of posts and theirs a lot of of talent on this site! Theirs a ton of stuff I have no clue what you guys are talking about like HB8, etc all these acronyms lol. Anyway, I'm wondering if you guys can point me to the right direction on learning pick up.

I was in a long term relationship and just got out of it...therefore, I'm a total noob in the pick up game. I've picked up online a couple of times, but I have big time problems picking up in person. The reason being is that I have NO BALLS to just go up to any girl and strike a conversation. There was another thread around here where all you have to do is go to the mall and say hi to every girl...I couldn't even do that the other day.

Question is, how do I grow some damn balls and start acting? Anyone have any tips or advise. I want to read a lot of noob/beginner material and start this week. I'm going on a vacation on Thursday to Mexico, so I wouldn't mind starting some pick up while I'm down there. Theirs tons of topics to bring up when your on vacation (where you from, what do you do, etc) and most people are in a happier more friendlier state on vacations. I believe when your on a resort on vacation, it's by far the easiest place to pick up...so I need to try something this week and if I fail, then I'm pathetic!!

Thanks everyone!! :)

HB stands for 'hot body' and then the number is the scale of attractiveness from 1-10 (you occasionally get 11's but theyre rare.

another one youll probably see is AFC which stands for 'Average Frustrated Chump' which is basically the rest of the population of men in the world!

im sure there's a thread somewhere with more definitions...

I've been a member on this site for a few days more than you so take my advice with a grain of salt - don't worry it is pretty general. I've been doing techniques in PU for a little while now but have decided that I'll jump into it with both feet now. I still have my sticking points but I have definitely gotten better than when I started. That lesson about saying hi to random girls at the mall is a good one. If you find them too intimidating start with old people, or guys your age. Engage people on the bus, in the elevator, buying groceries . . . not in the guy's bathroom. Try to create a headspace of having an awesome time - like you just won $5000 or your boss/teacher told you that you are the best effin' person in the world. You should be on a little bit of a 500 days of summer high (catch the movie for the ref - it is all about AFC). This headspace of seeming like you are in a good mood makes you smile when you talk and is almost infectious. Give it a try - I'm sure others will post sold suggestions.

The thing about PUA - it's a lifestyle change. It's not a diet or a band aid. It frames shifts the way you think. You are not out there to create an alternate version of yourself - you are here to become a better version of yourself. Since reading The Game by Neil Straus among other things I've worked harder in the gym, learned to play guitar, applied myself more at work and had a healthier view of the opposite sex. It's funny, most people stop pushing themselves and expanding their horizons in their early 20s. Pick up forces you to confront your weaknesses and fears and get past them. But you only get it by reading about it and watching video (which energizes you) and DOING it which is the real key.

Good place to start is The Game by Neil Straus for a book (I also liked Mystery's book) and it is also cool to watch The Pick Up Artist (season 1 and 2) on VH1's website (free) or on various PUA sites.

Hope this helps. Welcome from one Canuck to another (I live in Montreal and I am from Saskatoon).
