Ok, this relates to drinking specifically and the downing of those drinks.
If a person pennies you or starts chanting "down, down" or whatever (that is tries to get you to finish your drink as fast as it is physically possible) are there any ways to avoid performing the aforementioned task without losing some credibility?
i'm sure this is a situation we have all been in and wondered if anyone could shed some light upon the situation?

I would recommend trying not to bring those kinds of mates out with you when you're trying to pick up girls. You could try explaining in advance that on that particular night your priority is meeting women, not being sick outside the club. Also if you don't have an alcoholic drink in the first place then it won't be a problem. If for some reason you can't do either of these things if you only have a single mixer it wouldn't be hard to down it. You can also ask for a soft drink at the bar in the same glass that they serve mixers in.

Just finish you're sip, coolly look at them and say, "no" or "i don't want to." If they start taking the piss further, mock them for being a pisshead.

If you've only got a mixer you could down it. But outside england the rest of the world mixes proper drinks so it might be more of a problem. You could take it up a level and start doing body shots or alternatively you could just say "yeah, good one" or "come on how old are you?". avoid getting drunk at all costs!

This happens to me quite regularly because my friends like shots. Here's how I handle it.
I say "OK let's do it together! (Wait for them to grab their drink) Ready...1, 2, 3, GO !!!"

Then cooly take a sip while everyone else tries to down the shot or drink or whatever. I usually follow it up with. "Oh well, I lost..."
