Just the other day me and a few of my friends were discussing about how to get a girl you met online to go on a date with you?

Take for example, a girl i met online through a friend and she's an 8.
I would build some rapport with her first and tease her or be playful with her. And then ask her out. But wouldn't it be rather freaky for her if a guy she met online asks her out? I mean it does seem quite desperate to ask a girl you met online out.

So how should i go about doing this?

Actually what you described is basically what you need to do. I can tell you I have met lots of women online and then later met them in person, then later....well you can figure it out. I guess I'm kind of known as a guru of online stuff around here but honestly its not that big of a deal. People meet from the Internet every single day.

It use to be something that was a bit taboo back in the 90s. In today's world with sites like Facebook, MySpace, Eharmony, Match.com and hundreds of commercials dedicated to showing people meet on these sites its a common occurence. If you dont treat it as a big deal then chances are she won't either.
