me: wow that was kind of a let down with that one
She parts ways
ME: this conversation is getting interesting how can we meet again
Her: chance my name is Megan by the way... and walks off
I know not to pursue because that would deflate my value right?

Since you asked for constructive feedback here goes... First of all, good job seeing a girl you were interested in and approaching. You did the right thing by walking ahead of her and talking over your shoulder. Coming up behind girls is so creepy and a rookie mistake so good job avoid that too! Not to mention transitioning to something else.
The opener is an indirect opinion opener of who lies more. Well you didn't recite the opener as to the way its written if we are being fair about things. Should read like....
"Let me get your opinion on this...I can only stay for a minute cause (insert whatever)....Who do you think lies more men or women? The reason I ask is because (root your opener)."
When you use any indirect opener per Mystery and Style you need to do two things. The first is to insert a false time constraint & the second is to ground the opener by telling her why you are asking her this. Now let's be honest she's a player you approached her she knows why you came over to talk to her. Which leads me to my next point.
In most cases during the day a direct opener is better. People have real time constraints during the day and shit to do. She was going to pay a ticket but gave you a bit of her time. You don't have 20 minutes to go indirect, transition, neg, look for IOIs, slowly give interest back, and all that shit before getting a solid number.
You both have somewhere to be and most people don't have too much time to give you. The best idea is to go in with a direct opener and cut through all the bullshit. She has to judge a book by its cover a little bit but it works out better! You are in or out right away. In this case you'd have been in because she let you go through all that other stuff without walking off. She liked you for sure!
Go in direct with girls during settings like this and during the day. Cut through all the games and remember she has a real time constraint of stuff to do. This will end up working better for you and allow you to get a number easier and faster.
