Hey guys, I'm only 17 and I'm from South England. I've not had TOO bad a ruin with girls, but I have no control over my love life. I'm currently doing my final year of college to get into university, but I don't know whether I should take a year out to really get immersed in my game. By this time I would be 18, but I don't know whether this is too young to get involved in all this stuff.

What would you all suggest I do?

Thanks guys.

I started at the end of my highschool run, my only regret was not knowing this info earlier.

Don't take a break, if there's anything to learn from the shitty second half of neil strauss's book, it's that you have to have a life beyond the game. Every aspect of your game will be better if you have something going on in your life. You'll still have more then enough time to work on your skills

Yeah, good point actually, but right now its all I can think about, but I'm far too busy to start actively practising. Besides I'm not old enough to get into clubs yet...
The only reason I wanted to take a year out before university was so I could live in London and cut myself off from my life here, whereas at some of the universities I have applied to, the night life (and day life) might not be sufficient to have the lifestyle I desire.

Thanks for your advice, I'll definately take that in mind.

DO it. take a gap year.

I'm 19. Been backpacking threw Europe twice. Been all around the states. Been to two live events. and shoot, I am finally starting college and I have WAY more life experiences then anyone else around here.

Shoot, I frick'n meet Elijah Woods on bootcamp.

I have a friend that is an alumni from John Hopkins and everytime he reads my stories of my crazy nights out, he tells me that he wished he focused more on his social life back in college like I am instead of his grades. He works for Myrle-Lynch and gets paid six figures, but says my life is better.

Seriously. Society conditions you to go to school, go to college, get a job, get married, and pay bills for all of your life. fuck that. I'm going on an adventure.

Good point, but my situation was different: I moved out in my last year of high school, applied to a few unis, got accepted here and there, but I wanted a break. So I took a gap year. The thing is I didn't have any money since most of my income was going towards rent and living costs. I kept working at a shitty job and saved up enough to have a few road trips skiing and what not.. but its no eurotrip. I'm in first year university in europe, and I fucking love it. But I could have easily not wasted that year of my life and been in school earlier doing something productive with my life. I have to say, compared to last year, I socialize and go out much more. I work hard during the week and party hard on the weekends.
BUT
Had I not lived on my own for 2 years before this, would I be able to pull this off like I am? Doubtful - 'life experience'.
Do the gap year if your going to be doing anything other than working a part-time job, it's just a fucking waste of time.

Well taking a break also means getting out of the rythm of school. If you get mature too quickly it's not good either.

What I did, I am about to finish uni.. During uni I worked abroad for almost a year in London.

Anfter uni I want to travel for a year like a mate of mine did too.

No worries, no school, a degree so you can work abroad too, all the freedom and no limitations.

Thats the good thing about finishing all that college/school stuff and THEN go travel.

Just my 2 cents.

Yeah, good point, but I want to prolong education for as long as I possibly can before I have to go out into the "big bad world" as they say...
Which explains the initial plan for the gap year, and probably taking on a masters if I can cope with it!
Also, with the fact that the uni's I have applied to might not have the ideal nightlife (quite small towns etc.) to practice game is making me think I should live somewhere pretty edgy and central.
With all the thought I've put in over the past couple of days, I'm quite sure a gap year suits me. Cheers for all your help guys!

Totally correct. I wanna take 5 years to finish college. The party scene her is a LOT different then the clubs. I have a HUGE social circle and its fucking a blast. and with a fresh supply of freshman girls ever year, who would wanna leave?
