First of all new to the pick up game. Went out with a friend to a happy hour. I was winging for him because we went to meet this girl he is interested in (we will call her Sara) and her friend (Mandy). So I went out with the purpose to help a buddy and practice the game. We showed up and it turns out Sara's friend is pretty hot (HB6). We start talking and I do the best friend test and it works great (even though I don't think they have been friends that long). I use my body to isolate my buddy and sara by cutting off the circle. When I do this I start getting tons of IOIs from this megan girl. I used a time constraint, I had some other friend there, and talked to her for a couple more minutes then said I have to get back to my friends. She grabbed my arm and said don't go. I returned about 5 mins later and there is a guy there. I am to confident to let this phase me, so I continue gaming but its not the same. Turns out this guy is her BF and she starts giving me this angry look. I would describe it as "what the fuck are you doing, can't you see this guy has an arm around me" look. So I say peace and go to the wine bar next door.

The wine bar is much less crowded and my friend has a membership so we get free wine tasting. The girl at the bar is smokin! HB8! I start talking to her and she is send tons of IOIs. I start asking her what wine she would choose if she was having a romantic evening and she reacts great. But right then my ride comes in and says we are leaving. And of course my AFC ass didn't get the number. The wine bar is around the corner, would i still have a chance succeed? How long should I wait to go back there?

Feedback needed, specifically tips on getting a bartender. If this belongs in the newbie forum somebody please move this thread.

I am a little confused by your first paragraph? Did you mean Mandy when you said "this megan girl" or is this a new girl you approached? If it was Mandy there was absolutely no need for a time constraint. If it was new girl, that is fine.

Sounds to me like you need to escalate much quicker. You said you were getting tons of IOIs from both megan (Mandy?) and the girl at the Wine Bar--escalate! Megan could have been upset because you didn't escalate when her boyfriend was gone. You seem to like MM so go by the 3-IOIs then phase-shift model.

If the girl at the wine bar was the bartender (I think that is what you meant) then obviously you can't go for a kiss or anything, but you can move the conversation in a more sexual direction. However, I think you were right not to get her number. She is a bartender and gets hit on all of the time by customers. If she remembers you when you come back, then you should go for it.

I read it as "girl at bar" not bartender...? Anyways, definately a different scenario is she was at the bar....I think the entire situation was cut off too soon, let it go at that. If you're crunched for time, consider it practice and move on...you would have lost if you awkwardly stayed, and you certainly didnt DHV, kino, build comfort sufficiently to warrant a number or second meeting...

I agree with the escalation, just don't let it go out of control by escalating faster than you can game. Doesn't end well, haha. You were right for not getting the number, it really doesn't matter if you had gotten it since she does get hit on a lot by customers at the bar. If she remembers you next time you go, certainly game her solidly so you can confidently close with the number. Also, you used a bad FTC on the Mandy/Megan chick but only because her boyfriend came back and you really didn't have any control over that. I don't see anything too wrong with your game, just a couple tiny, tiny kinks.

Also, hell yes shout out to Boulder. I was born in Denver, I miss Colorado!
