I also recently told my friends that I'm doing this pick up thing because I thought it would be a good idea to have support. Now my friends keep telling me I should just go out and do it instead of worrying about all this theory. I realize that I will need to go out there eventually, but I've always been a theory first, practice later kind of guy.
I'm just wondering what most people tried: practice then theory or vice versa, and which worked better for you?

I'm doing the exact same thing.

"getting armed with knowledge"
yes... but too much of informations actually mess up your game.
just try to read ONE thing and go out that night and USE IT only THAT..
PERFECT that and move on to other steps...
practice makes it perfect and actions speaks louder than the words.
stop over-knowledge yourself with informations and go out and practice them.
best wishes brothers,
