Cardiff...

Well, it was one night of mayhem in Cardiff! Before you read this you should know that I was drunk but it was someone’s birthday.. Anyway! Seeing as I didn't get any numbers or any action as such, I'm looking for some constructive criticism on how to improve. Now onto my approach attempt...

I went up to a girl and inanities with "you owe me a drink". The reason i said it was because I thought it was a girl that actually did owe me a drink but it turned out it wasn't, so i took advantage and thought i'd give what a read a bash. I went onto "if i can make you say the number 17, you buy me a drink, deal?" She seemed to be interested. She said 17 and was annoyed. She didn't buy me a drink straight off so I gave her another go with "I'm going to answer 5 questions, you have to answer every one wrong". She got one right so i pushed for that drink. not pushed pushed just repeated it. I dropped it when it was evident it wasn't going to happen and went into the cube which she accused me of making up on the spot. I didn't deliver the script very well but I’m quite good at acting so it didn't sound canned. When i gave a FTC (much too late in the set) she pretty much jumped at the chance to run away.

Hints and tips would be much appreciated. First field report of my career. So far I’ve read the "MM" and "The Game". I'm just starting on "the rules of the game". Anyone know any good seminars running in London? If so, who are THE people to listen to?

To me, you look like a guy who just wants a free drink. You probably looked the same to her. Switch subjects. Multi-thread. DHV.

So, would you say it may be better to initiate with a proper oppener next time, move into the cube and then play a more fun game?

The opener was fine. You owe me a drink is all good. But don't make everything in your interaction about her owing you a drink... you'll just come across as a cheep guy who can't afford it.

My only tip would be not to go to any seminars. Instead, go into the field and do 2 to 3 sets per hour. Sarge two nights a week, four hours each time, and that's at least 16 sets that you would approach weekly.


Other than that, I have a question: How would one (or how did you) follow up from, "You owe me a drink"?
Girl: "What? Why do I owe you a drink?"
Boy: "'Cause I am just that cool!" or "If you don't bribe me, how else are you going to get me to stick around?"

...these suck, so where would any of you go?

I got in there with the 5 lies game. After she said hey you cheated i let it go and said "okay, i'lll give you another chance" and went in with "i bet I can make you say 17 " Which saught the same response. As you can see from the first post, i didn't know where to go and it fell flat.

So i tried this again on an apporach a week or so after. I didn't open with it which was okay as it eventually turned out as a neg. I layed it out with let's play these games and if i win, you buy me a drink. She said "no way" straight out of course so i just said "well these are quite fun games anyway so let's have a go". When these were over and all her friends started laughing at her. I took this as a form of neg as she lost value in the group without being offended. I just stacked in with some DHV stories after. It seemed to flow because the conversation was entertaining.

I plan to open with it again in the future, I will let you know what happens after.

Sure, you basically go in by saying "i bet I can make you say 17"
You get them to add/subtract a load of numbers like 4+4... = 8
okay so 8 + 12... = 20. Do this for a while (not too long) until you get to 70. Make it out as if that was the number they weren't meant to say. Ofcourse, it's crowded, it's noisy so they will say "oh i thought you said 17 not 70!" If they're clever they may outwit you but it generally works all the time.
