First post here so hi all. Clearly I'm new to this so remember that when giving advice.

I'm staying in a youth hostel in London by myself for a week. I would like to meet people to go out in the city with and also pick-up some of the hot foreign girls staying here.

A lot of people hang around in groups but many of them probably arrived or started travelling alone. The place is usually lively and has a bar below, but I need some advice on DHV and making contacts. I think walking into the bar by myself DLV too much (it just took me 10 mins to get served). Sometimes I run into people staying in my room, but the girls seem shy (probably travelling alone for the first time) and the guys are often Aussie alpha male wannbes roaming in packs of 2-4. Finally most of the guys travelling alone are odd/distant and the girls are alomst never travelling alone.

I recently travelled to a few cities in Europe and I found that hostels with bars and common areas were absolutely great for pick up! Most people there don't know the city and are looking to find out places to go. If you can go online and find out a few fun sounding things e.g. clubs/bars to go to, then an easy way to DHV would be to be the "guy with the plan" for the night.

You can open with anything (e.g. some joke->opinion opener about the creepy receptionist who you thought was hitting on you), you have easy safe transition conversation in the story of your and their travels (where you can tell a funny story about somewhere else you've been on your journey(s)), and then you can talk about your fun plans for the night, which you can then invite them along to. If you do that with a few sets, included mixed and just guys, you can put together a group of new friends and be the ringleader for the night, raising your social value further.

When I stayed at a youth hostel in Picadilly Circle, there was a cheap, fun pub down the street called The Midas Touch that had a bunch of foreign girls.
