Personally, I'd just wait till they're done with their period.

This happened to me with a one night stand last year, I'm not saying this is the prefect way to deal with it but here is what I did.

We kept making out, she only had her panties on, I was rubbing her through them and initiated her giving me oral which she did, I was touching her during the entire time.

In the morning afterwards we had sex anyways in the shower.

Period doesn't mean no pleasure for any of you!

If you wouldnt "do" anything that night, I would suggest you just call her a couple of days later, set up a new date when you think her period is over, and just escalate all over again and F-close her this time.
There is no reason that her having her period should make anything awkward, its all natural!
