Hey chaps,

Theres a few things ive come to realise since first finding out about the community! Its taken a while for it ot sink in and im very much a beginner at this still, but its become a lot more fun and empowering!

There is an awesome post somewhere on this forum with a link to a video which talks about negative emotions, limiting beliefs etc which in my case, play a big part in interations with girls. What I've come to realise from this is that these beliefs that I hold are all created by experiences.

Right, that makes sense! Pretty much every negative feeling I have I can consciously link to specific events that have happened in my past! The realisation of this however is that this is just a feeling of a memory!

On you tube there is a tapping video which to be honest, has helped me and I think if theres any of you who are also like me, pretty socially anxious, this may help!

After doing this a few times, Ive fouind that generally, Im a lot more lively, confident and generally at ease whilst opening and talking to girls, and the conversation doesnt seem so awkward or forced. Im not big on prescripted routines, having treid and awkwardly failed a few times, so what i try to do is just improvise and wing it!

Right now im having fun, trying to breach my comfort zone and generally feeling happier about myself! Im out with this girl tonight so hopefully this should be a damn good night! :) I will keep you posted

Heya, I would suggest you a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1m_Jgkrz_A
It is about neuro-liguistical programming, but it's an easy version, just used in order to help youself overcome your limiting beliefs.

Have fun!

This really hits the nail on the head.

'Limiting beliefs' are seen as a bad thing, a negative thing that needs to be changed into a positive, but the way I see it there is no such thing as a limiting belief or whatever the opposite is.

A belief is just what it is, and it is created by experiences.

If you believe you can't do something it's because, surprise surprise, you've actually been unable to do that something.

To change the belief, you have to experience the opposite.

You can 'think positive' all you like, but you cannot lie to yourself or your subconscious.

Our experiences are what mould us, and when you start to resist these experiences that you feel are not working in your favour by adopting some hokey mind-technique bollox to try to change your beliefs without the evidence to back it up, you're living as a seperate deluded entity.

I'm pretty sure "girls don't like sex" is a limiting belief....

I think having beliefs about others and their motives is more of a judgemental thing.
"Girls don't like sex" is rather a misjudgement (If the statement happens to be false) rather than a 'limiting' belief.
The same could be said about 'empowering' beliefs.
