So tonight I went to a friend's house when he was having a little get together, and first I just went around saying hi to everyone I knew. Than, I walked back to the living room to grab a seat and this HB8l out of no where from across the room goes,
HB8: "HEY! who are you! where you here the whole time? where did you come from?!" (I don't know if it was an IOI or if she was just being friendly, but she still did open me up first)
ME: "yeah, I've been here all day you didn't notice me?"
HB8: "nuh uhh, I never saw you when I first got here"
ME: "oh well I guess you're not as observant as you are hyper...are you always this energetic?'
HB8: blah blah blah
ME: Than I went into my plastic surgery routine that I've never used before...I posted here with the topic name "is this a good opener"
and we started talking...she showed some signs of IOI but I choked up and didn't really know where to take the conversation after...all we talked about was school, work, how we know mutual friends, etc...
SO my question is...1, did I start off good? if not, what would you guys have done differently? and 2, WHERE/HOW DO I TAKE THE CONVERSATION AFTER? (after my plastic surgery opener...or I guess in this case, I'm not sure what it was..)

First, Relax.

You did just fine in the beginning. (And yes, a woman talking to you like that is an instant IoI.)

After your surgery routine you should have built a bit more attraction instead of going "interview" (job? home? school? blah blah interview).

DHV. That is where you should have gone. And make sure your DHV ends with an open-ended statement that anyone can answer/agree with. Such as : "And so I adopted the little fella. I mean, every body likes dogs right."

(Even though that is question Esk...)

Give her a moment to answer with a story of her own Or just roll into another DHV or routine. like so...

"... everybody likes dogs right. Actually, that reminds me about this experiment a friend was showing me about how you can learn alot from what animal they see themselves as. blah blah"

you could use her random work, school, etc etc etc....the interview questions to find out what peaks her interest

Instantly when you got the IOI of her talking, you should have used it to invite her over to sit next to you, say something like you dnt want to shout over to her incase another girl in the room takes a random interest in you and you wouldnt want to have to split your conversation between two girls!
This would give the chance to initiate some kino later in the conversation.

I agree with every bit of advice that has been given so far. Crowbar and Evoj had good points about her intro being a HuGE IOI, and having her sit down next to you and and Using a few DHV stories..That’s proper game, bravo. After your Surgery gambit and a DHV story. (Personally however, i think that the following sequence is a big enough DHV in its self) you should be able to test for A-3 that is male to female interest ( venutian artist, Mystery).. Usually you go into A-3 material after she has given you around 3 IOI's but having her open you is a huge IOI so I would have tried anyway.. Basically at this step you are leading the girl though a way to give her legit IOI's for something about her personality NOT HER LOOKS. It’s called bait, hook, reel, release. (Used to be a huge sticking point for me so ive studied the shit out of it) After the set is open and you have rapport going you test to see if you’re in A-3 by asking.. "You’re very beautiful but beauty is common, what do you have going for you more than your looks? (That is the bait) If she answers and starts to give you things she has going for her more than her looks, she is (hooked)..If she says . (in a high pitched sweet voice while she is giving you doggie dinner bowl eyes because your the first guy that has been interested in her personality in a while) " Oh well I love photography and I have a great sense of humor blah blah." Ok you just got her to qualify herself to you so now you have to (reel) her in.. You say " Holy shit I love photography so do you use a digital camera or do you like the old school SLR's. blah blah.. that is sooo fucking sexy...( you are giving her an IOI that she can feel really good about.. She now feels that you have something in common and that SHE is beginning to win YOU over with something other than her looks.. Now its time to (release) all of this tension by saying ' that’s so hot I cant even talk to you anymore your dangerous for me. ( turn your back) and she'll say something like "why, why, can’t you talk to me"( she likes you!) and you turn back to her and change the subject. ."So what else do you like?" After she gives you a couple more things about herself. Run the CUBE ( if you don’t know it, LEARN IT REALLY FUCKING GOOD cause its like fishing with dynamite if executed properly..) After the cube look into her eyes and say "God HB10 im trying so hard not to kiss you right now" Usually they just lean in and initiate. Or ask you what you’re waiting for. You just kiss closed in like 30- 45 mins.
