However what if instead of biting or ignoring, you simply say "Uh, that's cool."? That would make them feel awkward, and feel like they were ruining their chances with you, right?

I feel like saying 'Uh, that's cool' your acknowledging her statement however... 'Uh' is a speech crutch like um er ah. Don't use them. And saying 'that's cool' kinda of affirms your position and asserts her dominance'
