Im living in a small town, so now there already goes a rumor about me and her. Can that be seen as social proof, or does it make me look like an idiot because I have be seducing so young girl?

Do not earn a reputation that you wouldnt be proud off. You are 17yrs old and have a long way to go. Dont be the guy that parents hate their kids to be/play with.

Obviously it depends where you are, so you should know the answer to that question a lot better than any of us...

But if it helps at all I can tell you that in my hometown it was instant death to your rep to be seen as trying to get with a girl even 2 years younger than you. Whatever happened, you'd be seen as sick and pathetic, possibly even dangerous. And if you were successful and she went for it, it'd ruin her rep just as bad; she'd be seen as a mega slut and a tramp. My hometown was probably more conservative in this aspect than most, but there you have it. I can tell you it really sucked for me because I was pretty short and a little later to puberty than most so it would have been ten times as sensible and convenient for me to date younger girls when I was in high school, but because of these values it was impossible for me.

I can't think of many places in the world where 14 is of consenting age. I can, however, think of many places 17 IS. I beleive your breaking a forum rule by discussing this for 1, for 2, unless you are in one of those places where 14 is legal, that sort of rumour can result in a criminal record.
The normal rule is half your age + 7 (for you, 17/2 = 8.5+ 7 = 15.5 rounded to 16 - which makes it legal in the UK).

Your rumour spreads your name, not in a good way, but it spreads it.

Whether that is used to your advantage or not depends entirely on your own social ability.

Alot of guys would probably agree with that... and it would equzlize it? I think. But personally... I would want to use this to my advantage... how you ask? Discretion... This is a time to pull the chivalry card IMO... if your asked about it by guys just blow it off... if your asked about it by girls I would take the "a lday does ask, a gentleman doesnt tell" approach, guard her honor.
