Right now I am a student and I work part time in retail. Its a college town so plenty of HBs come in. Has anyone ever been successful gamin while on the job? On the one had it is very easy to approach, I work there, and I have an excuses, on the otherhand, standing there in my uniform dampens my confidence as well as trying to direct the conversation past asking them to find something. I dont want to be creepy, I useually just smile, say hi, ask them if they need something, occationally talk to them if they are repsondant but the rest of the time i flop. I feel very out of my element, which is why I want to conquer it!

Also, gaming on fellow employees. There is a girl who will be trained as a manager for like the next 2 months, she is an intern and she goes to my school. The problem is, after 2 weeks i havnt had a chance to say more than 2 words to her. I dont want to run into a situation where that can be consfused as harassment.

I would appreciate all feedback for both customers and peers

I'm currently flirting around with 3 co-workers.

I don't know if your work is something you value because you might not want to game any higher up folks since it can result in alot of drama and firing people (my bet is on you, lol).


btw, your work uniform has little to say about your personality so why bother not feeling confident in it.

yea id say im in the same position as you customer wise. i work in a supermarket and it'd be great to start opening up customers but its hard to cos its usually just a quick hello, while you process their shopping etc. it would be even harder if there was a big q at the till. it would be great social proof and its definitely one area that id like to improve on

with regards to the uniform, sexdrive, i really wouldn't let it bother you. If all else fails you crack a joke on it, be like, "well it could be worse, you could be wearing this uniform!"

anyone any tips other than the obvious?
