When it comes to attraction suprisingly scent is at the top of the list when it comes for women being attracted to men. This is more so than looks, a great car, or a huge bank roll. Smell is one of the most important features of a man when she is deciding whether or not she is attracted to you.

The idea of smelling good or using a pleasant scent to allure the other person is certainly not a new idea. Perfumes were first introduced back in ancient Egypt and then were refined over the years. Recently, there have been a lot of articles published by scientists and even psychologist that show great evidence to prove that smell is a huge factor for women. In contrast for men the importance is placed on physical attractiveness in most cases.

Simply not smelling bad is not going to be enough. You actually need to smell good! Scent is a huge part of female sexual attraction and should not be overlooked or taken lightly. Thus, if you are looking to be better with meeting and attracting women then you have to take this seriously.

Smell can instantly affect your perception in a variety of ways. Have you ever walked into someone's home only to find a nice pleasant aroma? Everything from air fresheners, to scented detergents, etc. are produced to entice one of our favorite senses. Even Las Vegas has been known to pump good scents into their casino's to make them more pleasant to be in.

There have been a lot of tests to show that when a good smell is tied to a person women have actually found them more attractive. From pschologists to universities have experimented with this comcept and found this to be the true. The way you smell can literally make you look better to women!

When selecting scents to wear it's very important to remember that what smells good on someone else may not smell the same on you. It's a matter of chemistry that the oils that your body makes are not the same as someone else. Try the fragrance on some cards and narrow down the scents that you would like to wear. Make sure to try on different scents on your wrist to see what smells good on you. Then it would be a good idea to solicit women for their opinion on the fragrance as well.

One of the things I personally like to do is ask women around me when I'm shopping who don't work at this counter. The person behind the counter has a sale to make and is around these scents all day long so it's hard to trust their judgement, but do consider it. Make up counters are close to cologne counters in most department stores. Take a moment to get the opinion of some of the people who work close by and see what they like on you the best.

Some of the more popular colognes right now are:

Acqua Di Gio by Armani
Homme by Joop
Chrome by Azzaro
Boss by Hugo Boss
Bvlgari Black
Code by Armani
Polo Black
Style & Play by LaCoste

Pick out a great scent for you and notice the positive change in the people around you.

Jon

Great post. I wear two different Calvin Klein colognes.. I think they work very well and both smell great. They're huge as shit so I think they'll last me for another 5 to 10 years at least.

I however want to try out some of those other fancy colognes, like the ones you mentioned. I want to spend $40-$70 on a cologne and I know some are like 100+

I'm glad I quit wearing those $30 american eagle type colognes. Not too bad but lots of guys wear those and they are cheap.

More expensive does not necessarily equal best either.

I've got two that smell great and they're both around £10

That is true...just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's going to smell the best on your skin. Now with that being said more expensive colognes you typically need less of, and last longer.

As a quick comparison - Axe Body Spray it takes a lot of and it fades fairly quickly. I can dab on some old tried and true Polo - Green and it will last me a long time. Plus chemistry comes into play for how long a scent last on your body.

Glad you guys enjoyed this.

There is something about skin composition and perfumes. Some perfumes exhuberates on certain type of skin than others. Not to sound pompous but I have been blessed with good skin( never had pimples etc..) and the best part is Axe deos. last very long on me.

I agree that women get attracted to smell. I have almost everytime had women tell me that I smell very good even at crowded bars. And after a 10 mins conv. I'd have them smelling my neck, we all know where that leads to :D

It talks about hygine, taking care oneself and upto a certain limit it conveys to the woman that you are clean and upto a certain extent, subconsiously, she feels that the chances of skin or other diseases is less.

Very True J! When I am wanting to get intimate smell is the first thing i will notice. Lots of times it can be a real deal breaker. Smelling "clean" is def good, but it doesn't make me want to rip off the guys clothes.

this reminds me of pheromones. I've heard conflicting things about whether pheromones actually work. So I'm just wondering what's the difference? Does cologne work better then pheromones?

There is a lot of controversy around whether or not pheromone based colognes truly work better. It's my opinion that its a gimmick and it doesn't work any better than anything else. There is really no hard evidence to "prove" pheromones being able to help people.

To me I think of it like a placebo...those that have the sugar pill instead of the actual medicine would probably think it was working as well as if they had the real thing.

Ha ha absolutely loved this post. Why? The other night I went out with my brother and I was talking to this girl. He had just come back from the bathroom and the first thing this girl said was 'Who smells good'. She leaned in to smell him. Boom! I realised then I was missing a trick. Not saying I smell bad but have never really put much thought into the aftershave I wear.

That was not enough to take her away from me but I realised that it is just an added benefit. Smell good and it gives you that little extra edge for hardly no effort on your part. Plus a girl leaning in, to smell you, does add a slight sexual tone to the interaction.

BTW - I think he said it was Sean John. Something like that anyways.

good post....i really kind of forgot to put anything on besides the day I shave....and that happens 1-2 a week as i am quite a lazy boy and i was also told many times by women a bit of a beard is cool and sexy....especially in asia, as asian men do not grow much beard.

pedro 2385, I have a Sean John cologne aswell (Unforgivable) and I still remember the first night I put that stuff on.

I was with a couple of buddies and some girls from uni that are just cute girls I have no real interest in. And that night a couple of them leaned into me and said 'you smell nice' so I say thanks and gently put there hair back over their shoulders (kino), lean in and neg her a little about her smell. It did increase the rapport I have with these girls, and that's always a good thing ;)

It's a great thing, and can really help you!
It can also really ruin you if you smell very bad!

Jean Paul Gaultier is another one that does wonders, maybe one for on the list!
