Last night was kind of weird. I ended up riding up to X City with G (chick), who I don't really know that well. So I was basically solo. Didn't even intend on sarging, but the crowd was worthy and I had tons of social proof from people I'd met before.

HB9, the married chick, was kind of all over me... awesome, dhv. I had 2 targets. Long story short, my original target HB9.5 was solo and had a higher shield than I wanted to deal with that night. I sang a song with her, dhv, eject.

So this girl HB7.5 I've seen there before, talked to before (I know, I know), didn't think I had a shot and didn't care if I did or not. She's hanging out with this guy M that I've met before; opens me on my way to the facilities. Hugs for her, handshake and what's up for M. She asks me to do a song with her (one we had done before a few weeks ago). I give her this look, it's hard to describe, almost like "you want me to do what??"... so then she goes off with the pleeeeease and grabbing my arm. I said "ok, I'll do this song with you just one more time." she hugs and I proceeded to facilities.

Anyway, she was in a 2-set which was weird because it was with a 'guy friend' K definitely afc. She's always there with him. 2 other guys were on this girl over the course of the night, one total afc, the other kind of amog-ish. I basically ignored the amog. He pulled her away a couple times so I went and had fun with some other people. The afc guy was easy, and I dealt with her friend K the same way. They'd interject with something (sometimes awkward), I'd acknowledge their comment, respond or add something to it, then find a way back to what we were originally talking about (take the frame back in a friendly way). I wasn't alienating anybody, especially not K (who does a mean Rick Astley).

Once I had a chance, I actually started talking to her about stuff outside karaoke. Was a little weird because K was standing at the table, too, and it's the 3 of us. Anyway, she's training for a triathlon and she's from Maine originally. I'm training for a 10k and from Massachusetts. I use the New England connection to lead into a couple of dhv stories. Saw her eyes change. She was now kino'ing back pretty hard, asking me questions, too. Those were the IOIs I noticed, but yeah I guess I do need to actively look for them instead of just noticing them. I feel like I should have isolated her at this point, but if I tried her friend probably would've followed, not knowing what do to with himself alone. (I feel for him; used to be like that) The third thing is push-pull; I feel like I didn't do enough push, but I got IOIs without it.

Eventually we got to talking about X Race (she's running it), and how there's a party in the city tonight and:

HB7.5: "You should come! It's at xxxx place on xxxx street near xxxx....."
Royalty: "Hold on, I'm NEVER gonna remember that. Here, put your number in my phone and I'll call you so you can give me directions."
HB7.5: "Ok."

This was toward the end of the night, so I only talked with her a little more after that. Now gotta figure out tonight and try to find somewhere to crash in the city.
