I watched an interesting piece by NBCs Dateline that did a special on con men. The show was to notify what to look for when approached by strangers and how to avoid being defrauded. They hired a private investigator and used hidden cameras to show how he stole thousands of dollars from innocent people in the span of an afternoon. They willingly handed this guy cash without hesitation most of the time. Here is how the con went down in terms of PU terminology.

In the first segment, the PI stoo outside a bank in Florida wearing a business suit and opened people on the way into the lobby. (PI=private eye M=mark)

PI Pardon me miss, Im agent Kane with the FBI(DHV while showing a fake badge), we are in the middle of a sting operation because one of the tellers is issuing counterfiet $20 bills.

M okay

PI I'd like you to go in their, take care of your normal business and than withdraw an addition $100 asking to get it in 20s. (hoop) Make sure not to tell anybody inside what you are doing as this would blow the cover of our operation.(disarming the obstacles)

M How do I get my money back? (shit test)

PI When you get back outside, we will inspect your currency. Whether it is fake or real, you just fill out this deposit slip and we will reimburse your account right away. That is if you do in fact have the funds to do this today? (disqualifier)

M How do I know this is real? (LMR)

PI Maam, you do not have to do this if you do not want to. (false take away) Everything that is happening right now is being recorded. (shows a tape recorder to build comfort and blast LMR)

M Okay, I will be out shortly. (F-Closed)

Of course NBC notified said victims right away of what is really going on. During the 2nd segment they interviewed a bunch off the marks to figure out why they fell for this nonsense. Amazingly many of them were more than happy to help in this fake sting and some even withdrew over $1,000.00 to help out. This PI could make between 5-10k an any given afternoon without even trying.

It wasn't until the 3rd segment of the show that I felt like being a PUA is remarkabley similar to pulling a street con. They interviewed the PI in this segment and he went on to say things like. "My first day out there I wasn't very successful" (AFC) "The second day I was much better and more rehearsed. (internalizing and more PUA)." "By the third day, I could just pick the people I would ask before they got to the banks doors and tell with about 90% success who would comply with my requests". (MPUA level reached) "I was even getting bolder and asking people how much they could give me and than having them drain their entire accounts." (unbelievable but true)

This man had in essence, selected targets, used canned material, DHVed,isolated, built comfort, and blasted LMR. Before watching the show I thought my social calibration was just a notch higher than other guys. Afterwords I'm starting to wonder if PU is just conning women into providing us with something they normally wouldn't have, only because I opened them created an opportunity for them to act on.

We are taught as PUAs to bring her into our reality. The PI brought people into his reality (false one) and they happily handed him hands full of cash.

As PUAs you may argue that your reality is 100% real and not just a con job, but is it really? Do you use negs, peacock, disarm obstacles,push/pull,use pivots, use disqualifiers, or use FTCs(keyword being FALSE)??? If so, you are manipulating the reality of social interaction for your benefit. As negative as this connotation may sound, I'll end this posting with a question for you all. Is being a PUA nothing but a socially acceptable way of saying "I am a social dynamics con artist, who uses calculated words and actions, to alter the end game of real life scenarios"?

You're forgetting a key component that makes pickup very different: women want you to succeed in seducing them. They just want to make sure you're a worthwhile investment of time and energy first.

In the example you provided, the man's target received nothing (apart from some short-lived sense of purpose for helping with an FBI sting) while he received large sums of money. A successful pickup is very different: depending on your intent and level of sexual skill, your targets should be receiving all kinds of value, whether it be in the form of multiple orgasms, emotional connection or both.

If you feel like you're doing all the taking and no giving, you're doing it wrong!

Your boy,
870

Your also going on the standard of running a "game" based on canned-material, rather than being genuine. It is possible to say genuine things, and be a confident and attractive male.

The idea of "feeling dishonest" stems from a perspective that, you don't believe what you say. Rather that, your canned material isn't "real".

There's a common thread in the community of "Leave her better then you found her." Meaning, don't fuck her over. We'd be con-men if we were the assholes that just use women. The "player" that people associate with the term Pick-Up Artist.

Everyday we use manipulation to get what we want. There's nothing wrong with doing it. Its like being in a class, and the class persuades the teacher to postpone a test. The teacher had no want to do this in the first place, and it benefitted the class a lot more then if he hadn't, there's nothing wrong with it. That same is true for pick up.

I see you, I like you, I want you. I want you to get to know the best me so that you want to sleep with me and we can see where life takes us.

And I fully agree with 870
