Hey guys,
After lurking on the board for a while and soaking up the posts, I thought it would be good to share with all of you my progress thus far.
By way of background, I am a newbie really - high on knowledge - I have geeked out on material for way way too, low on practice and with a severe case of AA. I am doing well in my other areas of life, but the girl area has always lagged behind - my big ailment was continually ending up in the friendzone.
I knew I needed a major kick up the backside to resolve this so I e-mailed Tom in response to the above post and we went out sarging at the local shopping centre - bookshops, etc, etc.
It was quite an experience.
Tom brought his friends with him - Links and Gup. They all have very different styles and I got to see them in action. They were all friendly and welcoming.
Individual Info
Tom - Natural Style - His body language and subcommunication are very alpha. Even in a busy shopping centre - he is like a tree rooted to the spot completly still - this alone is worth watching. He also does not give up when the conversation is in danger of dying - he always has something decent to say until he reaches the hook point. I need to spend much more time watching his style so I can incorporate a lot of his non-verbal elements into my own.
Links - Natural Style - His style is different - it is a warm, happy go lucky, old friend sort of style. Indirect would sum it up well. Links was happy to share his story with me of how he was not very good a few years back, how far he has come and the psychology behind it. One of the key things about Links was the fact he is not just into solely Game, but the whole masculinity thing as a whole (eg - what does it mean to be a good guy?) and it was great to bounce ideas/thoughts off him. - eg shit tests.
He N-closed a 1 set v.nicely in a bookshop - it did not even sound like he was picking her up. I learnt a bit about stopping moving sets too.
Gup - I was told he was more routine based and likes Salsa dancing (something I am learning). I saw him in action with a hot girl sitting on a bench - he was doing well until her brother came back. We all thought he was her boyfriend - clearly a lesson here guys. The big thing about Gup is his calmness and centredness - he was so relaxed and laidback throughout the entire sarging session. I asked him about this - meditation was the answer.
The Session
I opened a few sets - a few in shops - I used a work wife opener I adapted so it applies to me - from the the love systems manual and used that as a transition to move onto other topics. I did not N-close any of them as my main aim was to remove the AA. Everyone was supportive throughout and I won't forget that weekend. The very first set that Tom opened for me was a lady outside a restaurant and then I got involved - I clearly thought I had messed it up and we moved on. But later on - I was eating in that same restaurant (by myself) and she saw me and came to sit down and chat! Ok now that was unexpected. A lesson here too somewhere.
All have been kind enough to invite me out again and introduce me to other people. Links introduced me to Jaybot and Tom introduced me to Rich M.
I had a date from speed dating a few weeks back and I asked Links advice on how I can avoid the friendzone - he suggested a kino spike from the off (big hug) and then eye contact/false time constraint/and k-close at the earliest possible moment - I will know when. This all worked a charm.
Links/Jaybot wrote me some great advice - one sentence that resonated with me: -
'every interaction has only 3 possible outcomes - friend, sexual partner or girlfriend - to me they all sound good'
Lessons: -
1. The power of role models/people who you can learn from - all newbie's should have them
2. Tom, Gup and Links all have v.different styles - this is v.good for anyone who wants to develop a particular style/incorporate different styles of Game into their Game.
3. Lost sets can sometimes be won
4. Knowledge is the wooden spoon prize, practice is the grand prize.
Going forwards, I will try to spend more time with Tom and Gup to learn more from them as well.
