I use a cool technique on these people there are 3 stages to it. I developed it after we got banned from one student union and had to mix with teachers and other "serious" subject people.

step one; Destroy their course.
Ask what course they do, when they say Accounting etc say anything along the lines of "oh, your one of them" or "wow, didn't fancy getting a job then" (that also works really well on art students)

Step two; turn attention to your course.
In my case it is music so they always jump on it, which plays right into my hands. In this section you need to DHV and show you are ambitious and creative (the one thing which usually completely eludes law students).
They will also try to rip your course at this point prove it is better than their course (I always love the statistic that the UK music industry makes more than the UK steel, fashion and car industry put together).

The playful banter will continue for a while, negs a plenty.

Step three, ambition time.
Ask what they want to do after their course and if it was what they always wanted to do. This diffuses the situation and gets them back on to their favorite subject (themselves) in a natural feeling way. Also this stage is where I mention I want to work from home and live somewhere hot.

Slagging a law student's program is a good way to find yourself going home alone. I guarantee they spent at least a year of their lives going through the rigours of the application process, and are in the top 10% of applicants. Liable to get offended. Truuuust me.

That girl I was talking about in my post? I had her hooked. Kino, dancing, smiling... everything was going great. Even the opener went awesome; I didn't have to plow at all. This girl was out to meet people, have fun, and find a guy to go home with.

Then she told me she went to law school. I asked her where. It wasn't mine. I put just a dash too much sarcasm in when I said, "oh, you go there."

Set blown. Game over.

It might be a country thing because literally anyone can do a degree in law here but yeah actually ripping their course will get you shown the door but playfully mocking it in my experience can work well.

I will hit the law school for some day game when I am back at uni.

PUA: "Cool. I've always wanted to have a naked pillow fight in the library there, but I never have my pillow with me when I pass by. Shame, isn't it?"

Acknowledge, redirect away from the mechanical conversation she's had 10 times already that night.

hehhehe that would be a cool double take moment for her like "yeah ... wait what???" lol
