I think it means she is interested but not in anything long term, more as having you as a bit on the side with the security of a bf to fall back on.

this is not really a situation I am in at the moment, but there is this girl that i know that likes to keep her relationship status up in the air. dont girls usually let their best girl friends know when they get into a relationship? if so wouldnt that be a reliable source to ask?

ugh. many times i ask best friends, but dont expect your inquery to remain confidential...

It's still better sometimes than asking the girl herself, because many times u will get the truth and get info the girl will not be willing to share, or may not even know abotu her own self...

But dont make it a repeating habit with the same girl or u'll seem weird

I would stick with if she doesn't tell you assume she is single, even if she isn't then you are innocent-ish lol

I say; let her decide!
Its her decision whether she likes you or her BF more and if she's hiding the fact she's in a relationship she's IOIing you.

If I were in your shoes, I'd say go for her unless you know her BF.
