The problem with all this mainstream pick up is its slowly becoming stagnant and useless. Its all canned material, old openers, useless shit. While it introduces many people into the community it also makes the mPUAs evolve their ideas and change. It will not be the end of the community, it will make us more well known but far from ending it. What doesn't evolve dies, we are evolving.

I'll throw in my .02 as a newb here.

I'll admit it, watching PUA is what made me find this site. I did a google search and this one popped up.

I never realized it was such a big thing, that there was so much out there dedicated to it.

I don't, and will probably never, consider myself a PUA. That's not my goal.

I enjoyed the show, I thought it was great, but also a bit lame at the same time. What struck me as lame was all the canned openers they use. Over and over, hey can I get your opinion, do you like spells, etc. I can see the validity of some of them, but others I think are horrible. I also think the making up of stories is lame, one thing I will never do is make up complete lies. That's just not me.

What fascinates me about it is the psychology behind it. Alot of the things I saw on the show, and have read here, are so brillaint from a psychological standpoint. Things I'd never thought of before, but make perfect sense. One of the great ones, I think was from PUA I, when Mystery shows them how to approach someone from the side, that walking straight up to them makes them uncomfortable. Brilliant, yet so simple when you think about it.

As far as it being out in the open now, I think that if you're good at it, women aren't going to know what you're doing. We just need to be original, and not use the same stock openers over and over. I'm going to say all the ones used on PUA are out the window, you use one of those now and she'll most likely call you on it. So be creative! Make up things on the spot. IMO a situational opener is a good bet anyway, it doesn't sound so contrived, and to me a great conversation starter.

Now a little more about me...

I've met plenty of women in my life, I actually do pretty well at online sarging, and have met plenty through friends. But that's it. I've always been horrible at meeting strangers out in a social setting, I was always stuck on how to open, the typical AFC.

But from this site, and the show, learning simple things like body language and the effect of certain statements and actions will make a huge difference for me when it comes to meeting people and being more social. That's what I'm in it for.

I went out the other night, and put a few things I learned to use, and I had a blast! I was able to walk up to random girls and start conversations, and actually have them interested. That's new for me, that was something I'd always had a terrible time with.

I think it's a great thing. Being an AFC sucks. You feel like life just passes you by. I think it's great that moreguys are finding out about it, why shouldn't they? Everyone should be able to change their life for the better.

I agree with this. I also was a member of fastseduction before "the game" came out. But lets think about it. Chicks need dudes, regardless. Even if everyone knew about PU (which will never happen), girls will still be going to bars, stores, school, and still be looking for their knight in shining armor to appear.

Is the community becoming more mainstream, ya of course, Does it suck? Maybe, but like it was said above, its an evolution process. Plus, once you pass the shit test on this, youre gold. Its hard enough for us to keep our head around a lot of the intricacies, how the hell is every girl gonna do it? I think this issue should not be considered a problem. If youre good at game anyways, it just doesnt even matter; its like a joke.
Just step it up and be the best person you can, with PU and everything else.

No guy should go through life without girls. Its just too sad man! Theres sooooooo many girls out there anyways! SO many.

I tell you the thing that annoys me most about this influx of new posters. It's the fact that a lot of hem want the info spoon fed to them. As "Fair Rose" says its all "Whats the best opener, whats the best method, whats the best Guru to learn from" etc etc etc!

These kids don't bother to search the forum, to see others experience. These are the kids that watch the TV and expect inside 3 weeks to be able to close any girl they like. It's completely unrealistic, so they end up leaving the community alone. TBH Great! These people don't have the intelligence to help themselves so I don't feel any need to help them improve.

The other key thing I've seen recently is the type of people we're attracting makes me nervous. Guys who don't respect women. Who want to just use them, hurt them and don't care about the consequences. Guys whose moitivation is not to have (mutual) fun. But to show off to other guys. Those are the people that make pickup have a crappy image. I don't want to be guilty by association.

I DID! I found all kinds of great stuff here just by using the search, and looking at the relevant threads at the bottom of the page. Great feature, btw.

My two cents worth:
First I am new here due to VH1 and the pick up artist, it drew my attention to an area of self improvement I had not even thought about in the 20 years of relationships i`ve had (always settled for the next best thing, never the best - unworthy doubts ).

Now most men will go with the fast fix approach, hypnosis, the make you attractive pill, candy bar or website promoting "fuck that girl NOW" type of quick fix. Cos young men also think they gotta be tough or sporty etc to get the pretty ones, its only gonna be the nerdy, needy or young AFCs that will with time on their hands or a friend who tells em where to look come to this or other sites. Thats the ones who want it layed out on a plate.

Here its about reading and learning all the steps with others who are in for the improvement of themselves or helpers/teachers. Those who come here at first will look for the fast fixes and some will leave cos they gotta work for it and go looking on the web for the assured fix to their egos, be it a £500 CD or food supplement that will not really last but will give their egos a boost enough to get em layed.

Most things in life that are worth it need you to be commited to the long path of enlightenment after the first bloom of a new way, how many will last and be worthy of the votes from others on this forum will remain to be seen.

Most of the newbies will get bored as the next instant fix comes out thats why Mystery need actors, cos it does take time to conquer some inner game aspects. People want the icing on their cake NOW and if they can pay why work for it, maybe one day someone will sell an PUA pill but ya gotta keep buying, cos the makers will not make money if its a permanent fix. Keep the faith and watch the posts, you can see who wants the help and those who just wanna quick lay fix.

It's definitely a long process, and nobody is going to get overnight results. I think people see the show and think, wow, that's easy! Look how fast those guys did it!

Like you I've been around a while, but never even thought of taking steps like these. I didn't know it existed. To me it's about self improvement, not necessarily "picking up chicks", although that never hurts.

As a newb to this type of scene, I feel like learning these techniques and the psychology behind them will open up a whole new dimension for me, and ultimately make this area of my life more enjoyable.

...that is actually a very good point, somehow I missed that take on it.

Series 1 opened the box, series 2 added nothing more.

How much canned stuff did that programme really ruin? Just a few terrible openers and one or two other pieces.

And of course this is just for yanks I must say. I've heard nothing of it in Europe, I've only watched it after having read about it online.

Series2 luckally didnt have NEARLY the ratings of season 1 (I suspect) since I have only found 1 person i have met at random that has seen the show! Season1 everyone watched.

Kinda cool, since they have some good material in there. Jsmooth proved last weekend that the canned material, even the real old stuff like jelus girlfriend and floss, still work great. New girls in the clubs, time has gone by, etc....its all good now!

Can I just add something else that ALL these Newbies seem to be doing!

EVERY SINGLE GIRL they meet is a HB9 or HB10. Now I get that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all. But lets try and get some perspective here! The way the scale was explained to me was.

HB0-4 UGs
HB5-6 Average, but tidies up nicely presentable.
HB7-9.9 Could use solely her looks to make a living.
HB10. There are NO Tens

Anyone who claims to get 10s every time doesn't understand the laws of genetics. If they were that regular you'd see them EVERY day on the street. And even walking the streets of London (and going to some bloody expensive clubs) I struggle to see that many 8.5s let alone anything higher!

Rant over. I don't like having a go at Newbies on any forum I use (Pu or otherwise) but sometimes I just read posts and think "oh FFS!"

Remember that when the top guys retire these newbs may be the next generation of teachers, PU is a life not a fix till the next drug comes along so step up to the next level if the new guys are snapping at your heels.

There will always be a place for canned material, in a few years if not sooner PUA from VH1 will be in the archives and most people will remember only a few things, like the fact some kids think the moon landing was a FX stunt.
What really matters is to get a life and live it, dont worry if the old material is on the tube even last seasons fashions will come back like the clothes our parents wore and may be fashionable to another generation who will never have seen it.

I see a lot of posts about guys getting called out on canned one liners/openers and the response is in most cases "make your own material up" , maybe in a way Mystery is just pushing PUA to be more creative by being on the TV..

Some of the stuff wouldnt suit me but they are great templates to work new material around..
What worries me isnt the knowledge that this community is having its material openly known, its that I havnt overcome my AA enough yet and I aint getting any younger worrying about the TV sensationalizing PU.
Maybe women knowing will help open them, could be funny if ya want.

An HB10 is like a unicorn (I know the Italians have one- http://www.isegoria.net/2008/06/italian-unicorn.htm), an ideal and a myth set as a target for us to aspire to. PUAs need a HB10 to be out there so we dont go AFC and settle for the HB9s
