Last night, I was watching the Discovery Travel and Living channel and it dawned on me that Miami Ink should be requisite viewing for aspiring PUAs. It's just one aspect of PUA that you can use to improve your social skills; especially the ability to DHV, storytell and shift into comfort.

Tattooing may not be something all of us can do but watch how these guys talk to women, negging them and storytelling while they work. Everybody from warpigs, AMOGs, AFCs and HB10s walk into the LoveHate Tattoo spot and these artists are the same around them. Laughing and putting people at ease. That's a level in PUA that I'm constantly striving to achieve, not just to make HBs comfortable but EVERYBODY I meet in life.

1) People walk into the shop with various life experiences and stories. From surviving Hurricane Katrina to volunteering in Africa. Life's an enriching experience and to speak to people that have travelled the world, gone through life-altering moments can only make you good at natural conversation. Seek out people in life that not only open your mind to new horizons but ways of life. You can constantly lean back on such real-life encounters in future conversations:

"Somebody once told me about a pub in Sweden where the barman ..."

Never understimate the value of letting other people tell you a story. It comes in handy in future. And in there lies a lesson I've learnt. HBs are better at conversation when they don't know you're hitting on them.

2) Ami James (the bulked-up bald guy), if he's not a PUA, is an example of somebody projecting comfort in being in his own skin. Laid back, he talks slowly and always maintains eye contact. Maintains a solid frame. Looking at his mannerisms, he smiles thinly to jokes and doesn't get too roped into a conversation. You're always half expecting him to say something. Nothing could be better than that - people waiting on you to say something.

There's so much more that one can glean from watching Miami Ink. These are not characters developed by a team of writers. Not to say Ari Gold from Entourage is not an example of how to AMOG the world but that a TV show like Miami Ink has its gems if you're looking for something apt about life improvement but not entirely dedicated to PUA.

Shoot me down where you don't agree.

agreed. it's a great show, and great guys there.

i got the ink on my right arm from Miami Ink, and it was pricey!!!! but it's totally beautiful. and Luke is the man.

added note: if you meet someone with a tattoo and they can't tell you the story behind it, run away. they are shallow, shallow people.

:)

True, there's a story behind every tattoo and to not have a reason for one is vapid.

cheers
