Hey, Im pretty new to this whole deal, My names Ben. Im living in Oregon SPAM with my Dad.

I've been interested in this since I bought a e-book called "The Alpha Male System" by John Alexander. Ever since I read this book I; had my first girlfriend at 20, had a couple... near sexual/sexual encounters, and have more confidence in this area. I recommend this book to anyone who's stuggling in this area.

But im seriously lacking when it comes to approaching strangers... everytime I got lucky with, someone that was a friend of a friend or someone I worked with for awhile and was more comfortable around. So im looking for any pointers or tips to help me get over my "shyness" which is a word i've heard alot growing up.

I also find its easier to talk to new people when I have been drinking, I also feel like a make a fool of myself when im talking in this condition...
Comments?

Anything helpfull is most welcome. Good luck and have fun to all.

I found that studying NLP helped me the most with my inner game and 'shyness.' I'm not talking about Ross Jeffries. There are many valuable affirmations (perceived truths about yourself) that you should internalize. Here are some:

The map is not the territory. (How you see the world is not how it actually is)
I am the prize.
There are no failures, only feedback.
Everything is my responsibility, nothing is my fault.

There are also many self hypnosis and anchoring techniques that I found to rid me of most of my approach anxiety. Chris Howard has some really good material, and also look for the book 'Introducing NLP.'

Other than that, you are going to have to play it through the pain. Learn to be competent by absorbing the material/advice. From there, learn to have success by applying competence. From success, you will gain confidence, and rid yourself of the 'shyness' you once had.
