I have been commissioned by Chief to redo-update the Newbie FAQ. In order to do this, I'm putting a call out to the forum as a whole for what they want to see in it. This will give you advanced guys a chance to add questions that you hear all the time and possibly mitigate them.

I am looking for good Q/As and threads that new guys can read and learn from. They can be PUA theory, AA/confidence building, commonly used routines, and/or comfort building.

The point here is to make the Newbie FAQ more effective. There is no limit to the amount of content that will be placed in it so if you have mutliple things you want to see in it, by all means voice them.

I plan to keep this post up for a few weeks; maybe a month. That will give you all time to gather your thoughts and place them in here.

Have fun!

Here is a question I get asked all of the time:

"What should I do? I am terrified of talking to girls and don't know where to start."

I answer with

"Break it down into small steps. From now on, make it your goal to approach and open five sets a day every day. It doesn't matter if they are all girl sets, or if you only use functional openers. Just start talking to people. That is always the first step."

Panpan brings up a good idea....making some kind of goal...any goal is good!

The quesion I get all the time bc I am a girl is...."is this an IOI?" I think it would be good to mention a list of very common and conclusive IOI's but also mention that many IOIs need to be taken in context. This will hopefully decrease the posts that only ask "Is it an IOI if she says i'm weird" or something like that.

A list of good books to read first (not too long, just some good starters) and what purpose they serve. Just providing a list doesn't give them the ability to choose where to start based upon what they need to learn.

Awaken the Giant Within by Anthony Robbins - for great inner game help and motivation.

Introducing NLP by Joseph O'Connor and John Seymour - for an introduction to NLP and more importantly effective communication skills regardless of what method you're using.

Secrets of Female Sexuality by David Shade - for powerful sexual framing

My Secret Garden by Nancy Friday - for a look into the female mind on fantasies.

The Game by Neil Strauss - a great STORY to get acquainted with the community and a lot of basic concepts. Not to be taken as gospel, as a lot of creative license was taken to make it a good story.

Body Language by Allan Pease - every time I ever see someone ask about body language, this is the book I see recommended by at least several people. It's apparently the quintessential book on the subject.

So those are a few of my suggestions, perhaps there are some others other people would like to add. This would hopefully reduce the people asking what books to read first.

Rye you touched on one of the topics I already had in mind. I was thinking about giving a short list of books to introduce them to theory and PUA, and then another section of books for advancement like those that you listed.

My list for starter guys was as follows:

The Game - A story of the community.
Venusian Arts Handbook - Intro to M3 Model
Real World Seduction - Intro to Prizeability.
48 Laws of Power - Most recommended book by Gurus across the board

Ive got to chirp in, the book Rye Lee recommended "Body Language - Alan Pease" is great. Its a very basic book on body language but it would eliminate about 50% of the posts about IOI's and it helps even people who have no problem with IOI's to pick up on some subtle things in sets.

BamBam - if that is the case with the book on Body Language I'll most defintely include that in the beginner reading section.

Zip/Madals - I have no idea the booklet you are talking about, I was told that the Newbie FAQ I was complying was to replace the one xfman wrote.

I think aside from My Secret Garden, all of those books I mentioned are great intro books. Intro NLP helps in so many areas, from body language, to learning IOIs, to effective communication skills, to inner game. Awaken the Giant is probably the first book I'd recommend anyone read after The Game and I've heard the same from The Doctor. Secrets of Female Sexuality is amazing for guys that have issues with what is acceptable to do to/with/around women in public/private situations and is another must read on my list I give to guys.

One topic that I find myself going over and over again with new members to the community is that of goals. I don't just mean immediate goals, like missions or daily goals. I find that they really need to find out what it is they are looking for and wanting. Perhaps a checklist would be in order. An immediate guide to figure out what they are looking for and what they feel hey need to improve upon. If I were to make a checklist it would be comprised of an approach goal per day, a statement of intent for joining the community, and a list of personal goals separate from interacting with others. Lets face it, the majority of what we do is about changing who we are as people. Lets get them in that mind set from the word go.

Don't mind them. They're just kinda breaking forum rule #8 (No thread hijacking). I'll punish them by changing their avatars to pictures of David Bowie or something. Later. Maybe.

A very common issue that comes up is when people between the ages of 18 and 20 can't go to bars and clubs because the drinking age in America is retarded so they don't know wtf to do since the most popular PUA gurus teach mostly night game. You could write something on how they could do day game and what venues they should go to, such as malls and bookstores, and maybe a link to stuff about day game. Too bad we can't recommend getting a fake ID since that's illegal and would therefore put the site in trouble lol.

I agree with Chief. The majority of questions I receive are about day game. A good link list to day game material would be nice.

Two other points I come up against often, and Jsquared was here the other night when one instance happened. Many newcomers don't really understand the nature of PU. I have had many people scoff at the idea of a PUA claiming they run natural or (un)natural game. I think a quick explanation that there exists: Material/Routine/Method game, Natural Game, Social Circle/Entourage game etc would be great at giving them a framework through which to view our discussions.

The other point I wanna bring up is it would be nice to see a newbie link or guide immediately upon registration. Something to direct newcomers to the FAQ without them having to really look for it. PUA CHat is easier to find and they will probably end up in there before even reading the FAQ. Maybe a big banner flashing with "RTFM!" at the top of the page or something.
