Personally for me, I now go Direct.

If it's for a group of girls, I say:

"Hey! Do you think it's ok for someone to tattoo the name of their girlfriends/boyfriends name on the side of their arm?"

I follow this up with a little DHV story of a house party in California where a girl who had their boyfriends name tattooed on their arm patched up as she did not want to see his name after he cheated on her, so now she's out to find another boyfriend with the same name as her ex because of the tattoo :P
