At my work it's easy to open up customers and chit-chat for a while. However, I mostly do SITUATIONAL OPENER's more than anything else or INDIRECT OPENERS. Some of these openers would be.

"You know it's great weather outside!"

"It would be better if the sun was out and not so cloudy!"

"Hey! How are you doing?" (Depending on your FRAME and INNER GAME-sometimes won't work on HB7 and up).

"Didn't anyone tell you that you look so cute in that outfit?"

"I could help noticing something unique about you! I can't put my finger on it but it's amazing. What's your name? Maybe I know you from somewhere?"

"You know what would be great? Hot bath just to warm up from this freezing cold!"

"Man, I can't wait until I get off of work! I'm just dying to be off just for a couple days. Have you ever had that experience?"

"Hey, let me ask you a question. What if you saw a mouse would you be scared or not?"

"What do you think of this color (pants\shirt) on me? Does it look good on me?"

"I got a gut feeling that you're gonna be the greatest person I met, so I had to come up to you and strike a chat!"

"Wow, you guys look like twins! Or are you just dressed that way?"

"Did you see that guy that blew that stopped sign and crashed into a old ladies car? He's such as asshole that he got out and started yelling at the poor old woman!"

"You know I would be so frank but you forced it out of me--I came over to just tell you...wait! What the hell is hanging off your nose? Oh it's nothing! Don't worry about it! Anyway, what's your name?"

These are some I just made up right now and some I field-tested. So have fun and have a blast! Peace!

One I used today, "Hey, if you tell a joke and no one laughs, was it really a joke?"

i think some of those sound weird dude, to be honest... i mean why would you randomly ask "hey, if you saw a mouse, would you be scared?" i mean.. what kind of question is that

hey stealth...
you seem like you are motivated and have the right mindset [and you're a member of PMZ... which unfortunately i can't be]
BUT
some of these opener's aren't "GREAT" as your thread is titled...
it's nice to be confident and i think that the people on this site can appreciated confidence because its part of being an alpha...
part of confidence is being comfortable asking for critique... so next time you post something like this, i think we'd all appreciate that you make sure it is either top notch... or if you've come up with things on your own, ask for some critique... thats what everyone's here for
... and yea... i agree with the assessment that LOCO gave...
also
Quote:
"Did you see that guy that blew that stopped sign and crashed into a old ladies car? He's such as asshole that he got out and started yelling at the poor old woman!"
I realize that this is probably a take on the "did you see that fight outside" opener... but i really cant see this working with the wording that you gave it... mainly because i'm sure that most people would notice a car crash
also... the problem is that by calling him an asshole, you give the girl a negative feeling about the story in general [negativity is really never good]
in the catfight opener, she'd probably be laughing about the fact that some girls were fighting about nothing.... in this case she would be sad/upset that the guy is an ass

Some of these openers seem a bit too weird if you ask me. Like the type of questions people think "ummm...why in the world would you want to do?"

Kind of random and pointless..."Hey, let me ask you...would you be scared if you saw a mouse?"

Female: No

You:....!?

Is there any follow up to that, other than just being a random question?

Some of these would be good once a conversation has been started, but I dont think as openers.

Keep at it!

everyone's got a point... the last thing you want is to ask yes or no questions...

I know exactly what you mean. I'd just thing it would be so stupid of you to see some attractive girl, go up to her and say hey, "Hey, let me ask you a question. What if you saw a mouse would you be scared or not?"

That's just whacked.

yeah i feel yall on the mouse thing, but i think it could work in the right setting. I wouldnt ask a lady that in who is walking around the mall, but in the club or bar, or restauraunt, i think i could work.

You know, u use the fight outside set up and say:
" ewww...I just saw a mouse run across the dance floor. Isnt that gross"
she replies, and you swith convo threads and boom.

at least thats how i'd see it working...

Some are better then others, and some would not work at all I'd say.
I might try a few out tomorrow night, although currently the story about how I got my ass kicked this night by the girl's boyfriend is gonna take priority (except it'll be changed a tad bit)

The best openers in my opinion are "are you here often?, do they usually play this kind of music here? etc."

They don´t seem rehearsed

Mix these openers with coldreadings "You have so much unused potential! or you have such an aura around you!"

unless your next move was to pull a mouse out of your pocket... that would be pretty money

Remember guys, you need to root your opener...I've done openers and screwed up ...had a girl say"i'm not gonna take the survey". It means there was no rooting, when you open a girl you've got to then root the question with how it relates to you.
Ex:
Pua- "If you saw a mouse would you be scared?"

HB- "No"

Pua- "See my friend used to tell me she loved all animals, even mice. Then we were in her kitchen one day, she was making me a sandwich when a mouse ran across the floor. She jumped so high she ended up on the counter..."

That's just off the top of my head, but you should use an opener that relates to you.

Remember.
The job of the opener is to open, however if you're using an indirect opener. You also need to;

Appear spontaneous: Like you just remembered what happen with the mouse, it was a funny story or something and you wanted to share it...otherwise it seems awkward and planned

Root Opener: Show how it relates to you, otherwise it seems awkward and like you're interviewing or taking a survey.

Convey Time Restraint: This is good even if they're co-workers. Doing this takes away from them getting nervous about having to get rid of you and helps lower the defenses a bit, as well as DHVing because you seem like a busy guy. You can then go into a take away because you can go to leave and they can tell you to stay a minute longer or w.e..

Just some thoughts...
Most of all, have fun with it, enjoy yourself, and good luck!
