You don't need a fraternity to do great things...

closing statement: if you are to join a Fraternity, do it for the other reasons, not for girls, spend time on pick-up-artist-forum.com instead.
+ dont belive what you see on t.v. about fraternities either.
+dont join a fraternity for parties, you can easly do that anyways.
I second that as well.
And don't believe what you see on VH1 about PUAs either

Being in a Fraternity does help you meet girls, but that isn't what brotherhood is about. In all matters of practicality, however, do you know what the biggest advantage a Fraternity gives you? Connections. It's not about what you know, it's about who you know.

Anyways, back on topic (pickup). Joining a Fraternity can greatly help you to break out of your shell, become more social, meet more girls, have more parties where you are an authority figure (DHV), but as others have said, it's not necessary to join one in order to meet girls. It gives you an endless amount of benefits and opportunities, though.

Many Fraternities can come off as being a big group of desperate guidos with nothing on their minds except for tits and beer. I can't speak for the other Fraternities, but Sigma Chi is an organization about developing leadership and character in men. We hold ideals that state that friendship can be maintained and is stronger amongst men with different temperaments, talents, and convictions, while other Fraternities seem like they are just full of guys who are way too similar... just a bunch of drunk jocks wearing polos and seersuckers.

The way I see it, you've got nothing to lose by joining a Fraternity, unless being part of a larger group with a bigger picture isn't your "style," or if you choose to blind yourself to the deeper meanings of things while judging things based on bad apples and negative stereotypes.

I'm curious as to what Zip has to say about sororities... she went Greek as well. :)

The guy I sarge with was in a fraternity and he graduates this weekend. That works fine and dandy till it's over. He said he knew it wasn't his "game" that got the girls, but the letters on his shirt. He said that's why he got into the game so he wouldn't end up like the rest of the guys in the frat house. Being regular AFCs sitting at the bar thinking about how they "used" to get laid.

you do not want to join the one here, all the loser kids that cant make friends by themselves are in it, and only the fat chicks go to their parties.

Ugh. here we go.

Going Greek:
1.) Depends what college you're in, which frat/sorority, and what the particular chapter is like. These variables run the gamut and should influence your decision.
2.) Make sure you don't turn it into your life. It's something to augment your life. You wear the letters, they don't wear you.
3.) Greek organizations do a lot of good. So don't hate. Yes, they have to, but they still do a lot of philanthropy. It feels good. It even affects some of us to the point we might get passionate about it (yes, even the "vapid" sorority girls.)
4.) Networking is an important skill in life. Duh. That's why the alum network is usually so strong in Greek organizations.
5.) IT DEPENDS ON WHO YOU ARE. SIMPLE.

I went Greek because I wanted certain things out of my college experience.
1.) I wanted it on my resume
2.) It's fucking fun
3.) I wanted to win homecoming queen, and I needed a large organization behind me when I chose to run my senior year
4.) I believed in the message, ritual, mission statement of my particular organization. Call me corny, don't fucking care. Gave me the little humanist kick in the ass I needed to be a better person every day.
5.) I needed/desired to be a position holder in an organization. Why not something that I actually cared about
6.) I needed to spend more time with girls. All my friends have always been guys, and it made me a more well-rounded person.

Just out of curiosity, how does one become a homecoming queen nowadays.

I know I haven't posted since January, between pledging, college lacrosse, joining the USMC, being elected to an honor society and still trying to pull down my fair share of pink, I figured I'd say it came full circle last night at our Conference Championship victory party. Several girls came up and said shit like "Oh *shameless* come hang out, do shots, talk to my friend, ect." Except they knew my name... and I had never seen them in my life. Fraternities aren't brosef bullshit, we do a lot of good in the community, but damn if it doesnt inflate your reputatioN!
lol if you make it in the USMC you will know what a real brotherhood is all about! good luck
