I had the same problem.

Have a few stories up your sleeve as part of a routine.

Go and do something rather than dinner; bowling or some event. This is one reason why i learnt to dance, take her dancing, girls love it.

Learn a few songs (!!) when your walking alone with her it will be a catalyst and break the ice.

You just gotta practice your playfulness through canned material until you have this great creative personality. I'm still working on it myself.

Try to be that comedian who's show you pray will never end. Make observations about her, find common ground and try to have a good time.

Whatever you do, don't let it get to one of those moments of uncomfortable silence. After that, it's hard to get her attention again.

For the long term: If you think that you have nothing interesting to talk about yourself with, then do something interesting. How about doing one interesting / exciting thing per week - but this time next year you will have 52 interesting and funny stories to tell. Even at 3 minutes per story, you have 90 minutes worth of material to talk to her about. How amazing would that be?

I have the same problem, Im total cock when it comes to making up conversations. Biggest problem is coming up with topics to chat about, mostly my head is full of emptiness and it just keeps feeding itself since more I think about it at the moment, the more empty it'll be. More than 90% of the times I cant seem to be able to overcome it, and it isnt just the occasions when Im having convo with girl, the same thing might happen when Im with my homies and I think this is really alarming since it should be the safest enviroment for me to talk at. This brings me to my another flaw, my ability to deliver my message. Even if I got something to say, my speech is mechanic and stiff, yet I speak too fast and give sort of impression that Im not able to keep my target's interest up for long enough to speak in normal pace. I dont know if this is reflected from my somewhat low self-esteem but it sure as hell is big problem that I'd like to defeat.

I like to take a page out of juggler's book when it comes to conversation, just confidently make statements, and see what she says then respond, the trap i used to fall into alot on dates was that i got everything worked up into "Damn I need another question to ask" now i hardly ever ask questions and yet im complemented on my conversational ability but like all things, use in conjunction with good humor confidence
