I'm a big fan of studying characters in films for cool tips on body language and how to demonstrate acting as the alpha male.I watched all the recommended films (Top Gun etc.), but the undisputed champ of alpha is James Bond.
He never loses his cool, always seems in control, always has a better answer and always bags the babe.
Now I know he's a fictional character, and everything he does is in a script, but the actors they get to play him pull of the whole cocky funny game perfectly (most notably Sean Connery) , that I suggest watching one of the flicks before heading out to sarge just to get you in the mood for some natural game.
And lets face it, who would a woman want to be swept away by; a cool suave gent, or a goddamn nerd with a cowboy hat/googles?
