It does strike me more as a self-mentality thing - I can see that the OP's viewpoint is he may feel like he's overdoing the social aspect...the question of: 'Why should I have to do this? nobody else does it for me?' can be answered thus:
Nobody gives a fuck about anybody else - certainly people they don't know.
And why should they give you any of their time? Just because you are there and talking to them? Unless you are gonna bring something to the table whereby the general SPAM is improved with you being a part of that/creating it, they aren't gonna invest any more time into interacting with you. They will have their interactions locked to their friends as they are comfortable with that - whilst at the same time some of the cute girls that baconlube mentions are gonna be crying out inside for someone to come a mix shit up, offer them something different.
If you are approaching sets with this negative feel of 'why the fuck I gotta do this?' the ladies WILL pick up on it - they are much better attuned to vibe than we are.
You do it because it's fun, playful and sexual.
You do it because you are partaking in the Game.
It's not supposed to be a chore, it's supposed to be FUN.
If you see it as a chore then perhaps try another approach - go for Apocalypse Openers or Shock & Awe - with the caveat that you are still gonna have to work this negative vibe out of yourself.
And WHY is it such a bad thing to have improved the mood and or general outlook of some people you don't know and may never meet again? Most people are MISERABLE CUNTS - noone is suggesting being a clown for their amusement, just be cool - like the fucking Fonz.
