The point is, if you envision yourself doing something enough times, you are actually practicing. While this may not apply in regards to the desensitization of your member, it still applies in regards to technique and mind set (your anxiety). I'm sure you've watched enough porn to know exciting moves, so the next time your rubbing one out, try to imagine yourself getting through foreplay, taking off her panties, insertion, position switching, slowing down when your about to blow (so that you dont), and eventually, ripping off your condom, beating off in her face, and saying "take this."
If you get yourself in the habit of mentally doing exercises like approaching or fucking, it actually makes for an easier time when it comes time to perform. You feel better prepared.
