So I have this f buddy who i see about once every 10 days and who in the last week or 2 i have fallen into the trap of texting every day. I want to see her more (once every 5 or so days) and text her less. I tried occasionally ignoring her, but last night i sent this text after I ignored a few of her texts and she kept trying. "I dont want to text you so much XXXX, i dont even know you so well" "text me if you want to see me"

Then she went on about not understanding me, why wouldn't you text someone everyday blah blah
I replied "i want to see you, not text you" "just text me if you want to see me"

Thoughts? was this the right move or not?

You sound really socially awkward. I don't know how else to say that.

It's a straight forward message... for sure. Tactless, though.

If you're the one texting her every day, why would you write that instead of just not replying to her if you think it's too much?

Text her once every 5 days when you want to hook up... No need to verbally say "I don't want to talk to you".

You're shooting yourself in the foot and making your life harder than it has to be.

Not sure why I would have thought it was you doing the texting.... Doesn't really change anything. Reply every 5 days instead then. Still no reason to tell her you don't want to text her IMO.

I respond with "I'm super busy at work today, so I can't text much, lets meet up on XXX" all the time.

It's nice and cuts to the chase.

I work alot. I can't be texting all the time. So I just let the girl know I am working, I will get to her texts as much as I can. There isn't anything wrong with texting. It bridges the gap on many levels. Emotional, sexual, and logistics.

I know that if I don't respond to 4 texts from a girl they tend to give up and get upset. I remind them I work but I wouldn't blatantly ignore them. For some reason I have decent mini convos for which I have learned when to cut the chit chat and get to a meet up.
