guy and girl are clearly a couple. guy tells me in front of her "she wants to go out with you. can you pick her up tomorrow at 5 pm?"

the girl leaves for the bathroom. guy again pressures me "go talk to her, she is a good girl"

I am not naive enough to actually believe the guy wants me to date the girl. there is something else going on. what's going on? why would a guy do this? is it to get the girl to respect him more?

Tell him you'll do it as long as he pays.

every time the guy would bring up the subject of me dating the girl, the girl would say "stooooop" like "stop teasing me"

I have come up with 2 possibilities:
1. The guy was trying to increase his own value by showing the girl he is ready to walk away at any time. "look, I am even helping you find another guy"
2. they were both in on the joke and were trying to make a fool out of me and laugh their asses off "what an idiot lol lol"

That's all I could come up with. am I missing anything? could something else be going on?

They were more than likely trying to make a fool out of you but you should grow a pair and respond with what the other guy said. "As long as your paying."

Are you interested at all? Why not bypass the joker and ask the gf what's happening? Otherwise, make a couple jokes and let it slide.
