I know we're not supposed to touch those subjects in the initial stage, but after you're dating a woman for a while, these stuffs are bound to come up. I usually just say my piece and if they show no tendency to open up to the idea and keep escalating the argument, I'd just drop it and change subjects rather than wasting my breath and energy on someone who isn't willing to listen. Sometimes I also ask questions about her point of view rather than make the argument just about mine like why do you feel that this blah blah blah

I wonder how would you guys handle it? Do you go out of your way to prove your point (isn't that qualifying yourself to her?)? or do you start using all the manipulative techniques to win the argument?

Most people are set in their opinions and you can generally tell if you are able to sway them. If you aren't, it isn't worth the time. Most likely, though, if you can't agree on most stuff like religion, politics and baseball (money? No, fuck it, baseball) then you don't have a ton in common and things will eventually go down the crapper.

That being said, many people can still make it work, but not by fighting and trying to steamroll each other.
