I have a mood-disorder, meaning that I'm pathologically miserable, and am bundled with a ton of insecurities that leave me with much despair and a sense of hopelessness. Professionals have been trying to assist me with this for years, without a whole lot of luck. However, I'm functioning much better now and am determined to work on my PUA skills, but it's difficult since it seems that a lot of PUA mastery comes from having self-assurance, confidence, being happy, not emotionally needy, which my mental health has destroyed.

Does anyone have any insight into what the best means of improving my game would be?

Professional help to do handle your specific issues is what you should be doing.

Try doing subliminal self-hypnosis meditation to handle your internal insecurities. There are a lot of them out there tailor for each individual needs.

I second the meditation. It's pretty incredible what meditating daily will do for you.

majikal, any tips on how to practice meditation? I like to be open minded and try new things, and i keep hearing meditation as an answer to many things lately.

Meditation is invaluably empowering. Go to YouTube and search "RSDTyler Meditation". There's an hour long video there. Invest the time and effort. You'll be happy you did!

Go on youtube and search for "self development meditation." I'd definitely start with guided meditation so you can get the breathing down and really get to a point where you are completely relaxed. There are some really good ones on the internet. Try a few of them and see which one you like the best. Some of them might be hard for you to get into and others might suck you in right away.

I honestly wear headphones every time I meditate. Get some good ones with decent noise cancelation. Be somewhere that noone will bother you and is pretty dark. The idea is to relax as much as you possibly can. It will give you the ability to feel very centered and at peace with yourself. Do it every day and you will start to notice a huge difference in yourself.
