I'm new to the game, and am trying to work on my personality and self-esteem right now

I'm doing my best to shake my negative traits, but in some ways I'm finding that what I like about myself has been what's fucked up my encounters with girls in the past.

I'm sort of an odd guy. I love to talk about politics and philosophy. Basically opinion based shit that either makes me look like a dick after I explain to them why vegetarianism is unnatural and eating meat is my god damn biological right, or shit that makes me look like a weirdo because no one else cares about how cool it was when twelve cops in riot gear cleared out an entire area full of 500 people by themselves.

In other words, I don't know how to talk to women. I don't give a damn what Paris Hilton is up to, I don't watch sports, and I think that most modern music is garbage and a waste of time. What do you talk to them about?

Also, I don't seem to have any problems 'opening' women. I tend to be very good at making observational openers, and my favorite is still the classic “Hi, my name is..” My difficulty is taking it to the next level and beyond. You can only BS your conversations (What's your major? You like x band too?) for about a minute before there's the dreaded lull in the interaction resulting in her walking away. How do you keep the conversation going? Is this where the routines come in?

There is nothing wrong with the "Hi" opener, as long as your body language, tonality, and facial expression conveys alpha characteristics. This works well if the woman made eye contact with you and opened herself first. You know what that means...most men are simply too AFC to do anything about it. Go up to her, say hi, say you saw her looking at you. If you studied the M3 model, this usually gets you straight into A3.

PUA:"Hmmm you have a special...aura...about you. Makes me want to get to know you better. But too bad we'll never get that chance because ___insert lame excuse___."
HB:"No wait!/That's not true!/Blah blah"
PUA:"Well OK, you ARE cute, but beauty is only skin deep. What separates you from other women?"
HB: qualifies herself
PUA: push pull push pull comfort comfort comfort sex (4-7 hours)

Well, you do have a lot of negative stance right now, but it's good that you see that. that's the first thing you got to work on.
The rest is easy man.
Rex, they fake orgasams, we fake interest in what they got to say. Sometimes we even fake entire freakin' relationships.
So, dumb down, pretend you care, and DHV.
Politics and Philosophy were my majors in college, and I love that stuff, it's just not a topic of conversation that I bring up when I'm first meeting people. Any topic that people feel strongly about should be avoided at all costs. If somebody brings up a topic about that, don't dismiss it completely, just say that you can't really form an opinion on it, you haven't examined all the facts yet. If it turns out that they have an opinion that you think is idiotic, try to change a topic and find some common ground on something else.
Not many girls care about your "god damn biological rights, riot gear," or hegemon politics (my personal vice).
So go out there, talk to all of the celebrity gossip addicts that you couldn't care less about, untill you find a girl that will catch your interest. (I got a feeling she'll be wearing Dr. Marteens.
