Hey guys, would like your advice...
I saw some of my acquintances on Facebook is going to some guy's open lumo party and thought it looks pretty cool. The guy is turning 18 and in a different school than I am, so I won't know any people there...I've been to an event like this before and I ended up feeling akward as most people already have their little groups when I arrive and are not really accepting to strangers...I don't really have a friend or someone to take along as most of my friends aren't into random open parties...Is there any specific steps or methods to use to get to know the people and not look "out"?

yes, smile use open body language and be having the most fun talking to each group. treat it as a club and your opening up sets. Once everyone sees that your getting along with everyone and getting them to laugh they are more accepting becuase your bringing something to each group. don't talk from each group add to it.

it is all about confidence and presenting yourself. You should get there early. Go and greet the host and thank him/her or them for the party and then that is how you start your social momentum. Talk to everyone, just vibe baby vibe. Eventually you can come back to the ones you already talk to and work from the conversational high you left from.

If you make some friends early on, you'll be good to go when the party really takes off. A good person to befriend is the organizer of the party, because he will know nearly everyone there. So go there early, introduce yourself to him (bring a good-will gift, obviously). Say that you heard such good things about this party, and that you're sure it's gonna be awesome (or whatever you kids say these days). In addition, it never hurts to bring a friend who is also in a party mood.
