today I was walking on the street, in front of me was this milf. so the bus came, and I ran past the milf, into the bus. i didn't have my bus pass on me so the guy didnt let me on. so I got off, and the milf had just made it to the same spot that i was at. so:
I told her "hey"
she said "what?"
I said "I just wanted to let you know that you have a nice ass"
she said "thanks. that means a lot after a hard day at work"
I said "YOU WORK?" [surprisingly]
she said "yes"
I said "where do you work?
she said "around here. How come you didnt get on that bus?"
I said "because I left my bus pass at home"
she said "you dont have any money?"
I said "no, I left my wallet at home, I am just coming from the post office"
she said "the post office is that way" (pointing in the opposite direction.
I said "I am coming from it, not going"
I said "do you work in fashion?"
she laughed and said "no" (she said no in a kind of like "yeah right, me in fashion. no way")
I said "you live around here?"
she said "yes"
I said "which street?"
she said "just up there"
Then I said "I gotta go" because she was just being so secretive, I dont know what her problem was. So I just left.

Can you point to me the things I did wrong? Right now I can see a couple of things I could have done differently.

Mostly a fluff conversation. Nothing great, you didn't attempt to grab a number or even get her name. You got her to laugh with the fashion question but she wasn't telling you what street she lived on, so no comfort level was established.

I imagine she thought that you were trying to be nice to get some money off of her for the bus.

She was in autopilot mode. Read of "Creating deep connection with women" by Kezia Noble. She has a lot of good insights about conversation skills with women.

This is more of an interview than a conversation, you should have pursued the avenues of conversation rather than asking question after question.
Alternatively you could have used something like this:

You "hey"
MILF "what?"
You "I just wanted to let you know that you have a nice ass"
MILF "thanks. that means a lot after a hard day at work"
You "Just thought I'd say hey and see what you've got going for you other than your looks?"

Might seem like an old school line, but its tried and tested

Never ever ever say that to a woman. Even you did bad, ignore it like it didn't happen because once you verbalize that fact, it'll register in her mind and all her logic would come to work. And check out the stuffs I told you, if you run into her again just ask her questions that are engaging her emotions, stick with positive emotions by the way.
