While I am studying the neg theory I came to the recognition that as a young guy, I was negged all the time:

1990 High school, there was this wild dude whose father was a diplomat in Moscow and had recently returned back home and he began school with us. He went like this "Gee you have a Russian face! Are you Slavic? Then I will nickname you Igor! The whole class heard this exchange and they went wild, hillarious, Igor, Igor Igor!
So I ended up being Igor for the next seven years, and chicks did not want to date anyone named Igor. (My country was oppressed by the Soviet Union and everybody hated Russians!)

1995 My Uncle: Do you have a girlfriend? No, why not? What is up you don't like girls?
And he made a face as If I had failed math (I think Pickup wasn't a high school subject around then.)

They kept telling me that I looked nervous, I talked too fast, it was hard to follow what I said as if having a speech defect.

2005 the local snack bar male assistant: Gee, have you had a hairdo? Yes.
You don't look like it...

So how do you recover your confidence from several hundreds of "negs" from your earlier life?

Those weren't negs. Those were people being assholes to you and making fun of you. There's a huge difference there.

Even my own mother, who has been stringing or bossing around my father for 40 yrs, could be quite bitchy at times.

The the longer I argued with her about something, the higher my voice pich went and sputtered more and she shot the whole conversation down by saying: What is it, are you loosing your voice you stutterer, nobady can understand you!

(This similar speach problem occured when I aproached HBs in clubs: Whats up? Your voice went up and all shaky...)

There's a difference between a neg and an insult. Stronger ones often insult weaker ones.

But the cumulative effect of it can be quite damaging to one's self esteem dosen't it?

Yes it is. Of course you can view it as a challenge to get yourself stronger, however if you do not find a way to get rid of that that will make you a closed and distant person for other people so you may end up depressing and playing videogames all day.

Hey man, i've been picked on as well for years.at soccer team, friends who insult me (they still do). And guess what? You are better then that. Those people have to crack other people to feel better and boost their ego. These people will not understand that what they do is wrong. Think this: i don't care what other people think, i am cool, attractive, funny. Write down positive SPAM about yourself and speak them out loud. You will believe it some day and this will make u confident about yourself

If there's one thing everyone needs to learn about children from ages 4-18 is that they are little fucking monsters. I'm sure lots of us had to deal with similar shit growing up. My advice is focus on the positive memories and marinate on those. Forget the bad shit. Also, be glad you didn't have to deal with 'cyber bullying' in high school. Dealing with that garbage as a teacher is crap.
