Yesterday, on the 4th of July, I reunited with family for a good old fashioned fireworks watching.

My cousin brings her friend over, I can tell she was instantly interested in me. We kept talking saying how weird we are and how much we are in common. Every time my cousin and her would have a conversation about going somewhere she always turns to me and goes "and you should come" and smiles. Man, she was beautiful, soft spoken, and easy to talk to. Oddly she had the same name as my ex, Janet.

I was unable to isolate Janet from my cousins. But managed to end the night exchanging numbers. After going home, I get a text from her. Here's how it went.

Janet: Hhheeeeeeyyy
Janet: :))
Me: That was fun! Let me know when your planning on going to the movies (relating to one of our convos)
Janet: Hehe kay kay, it was nice meeting you
Me: It was a pleasure meeting you too haha (I could've ended with something better now realizing it)

*20 minutes later*

Janet: Are you going to sleep?

I was dead asleep on my sofa, I didn't feel tired when I got home. But oh well.

I texted her back saying I'm up now but made the excuse that I had to sleep early for work. Its been 5 hours already and I got no reply. I thought we hit it off really well, I guess not.

What could've I done better? Or not done? What should I do now?

Janet: Are you going to sleep?
"ya unless you have a better idea"

Could have been a LOT more playful here. You missed quite a lot of opportunities to have some fun and begin a text flirt.

It's not about "I thought we got on well, guess we didn't". That's you trying to rationalize this situation now. She has probably lost interest because you just weren't picking up her IOIs and responding.

Text her something playful. Did you have an inside joke? Begin a roleplay, whatever. She's giving you amazing IOIs and you're not using them.

That is a women's way of saying she wants you.

She is all over you so escalate ASAP or she will think you are not interested.

Should have took charge and here and made the plans to see the movie and invite her. Instead of leaving it to her.

2 options. If you were up for it, you could have invite her over or just left that text and replied next day.
