I really wanted to go to this Russian New Years Dance and ended up having to go alone.

As Im sitting at my table I notice a very attractive young lady checking me out. I check her out and back and forth. Finally I work up the courage to walk over and ask her to dance.

She acts flattered that I asked her and gives a big "Id love to!"... so we dance and chat and things are really going well, she's starting to rub up against me and Im feeling a real connection. The dance ends and she pats me on the back and thanks me.

I walk over to my table and we're back to checking each other out. I walk over to her again and as Im walking someone asks her to take a pic, and I wait for her to finish and a guy walks over and cuts me off and tells me Im to old for her! Im almost in shock because people are normally polite...I tell him Im just asking her to dance and he says "I know that get lost". My immediate reaction was I wanted to hit the guy, but this was an important night and I didn't want to blow it. My fear was the guy might cause a scene or get physical. So I just walked away.

This was a unique situation because I was alone, didn't know anybody and at the same time these people knew my family so I had to be more careful.

So I stayed away from her the rest of the night. I can see in some of the pics I took this guy glaring at me throughout the night.

I kept my eyes open throughout the night and have been able to find her online.

What Im looking for is advice on how to approach her now.

Here's the thing...I thought I was being the bigger man walking away.

My fear was the guy would grab my arm or something like that and I'd loose it.

My feeling was mr cockblock maybe was the girls dad and if things went bad I'd end up looking like the heavy/bad guy, probably getting thrown out.

Looking back I can see it would have been better to give the girl some attention, maybe try to clue her into the situation. The problem was she was kept off in the little group she came in, I didn't see her dance with any guys aftermr cockblock ruined things.

Well I did it,...I manned up and sent her a note.

Maybe not the most perfect note but I said what I needed to say.

I knew if I waited any longer longshot would turn into no shot.

I didn't want her thinking I was the type of guy who gets a whiff of prime poontang and then sits on his thumbs all night.

Now I have to wait and see...
