I am very curious on what exactly these two are.

I keep hearing/reading locking in, but what exactly does such action consist of?

This goes for the hook as well. How can you determine when your target(s) is hooked.

Lastly can I have some conversational examples of a push pull so I can see the mindset.

Locking in can be physical: sitting down, leaning to a wall. Any position that releases pressure. But is can also be conversational: the girl who is engaging by asking things about you. When she asks things about you that's also the hook.
