I had a date planned for tonight, and she recently sent me a text:

"So I'm not sure what you were thinking about tonight, but I need to let you know that I am recently trying to get over someone. Let me know what you're thinking."

So, how do I respond to this? I'm assuming I should cancel, but I'm not sure what the best way of wording it would be.

Just go for it and when she keeps backing off say goodnight and leave.

"Perfect, I'm trying to get this girl to get over me"

And if you cancel it'll just show what your intentions were

i see no good reason to cancel here. i know this is the non-pua response, but id probably just be like "so what better way to do that then to go out and have a great time tonight? no pressure, lets just take it slow and have fun".

Brush that comment off, she is probably shit testing you a bit... she just got out of a relationship, and funny story no one ever leaves a good relationship, you dont ever leave a marriage happy or breakup with a girl when everything is perfectly fine do you? No, she just needs to make sure she doesnt get hurt... SignAFC had a good line because it shows commonalities, but at the same time she can think moving to fast. What ever you do don't cancel, just be,

"Well I was thinking chinese, but then I realized I am trying to go healthy, less salty foods, than I was thinking pizza, but I had a cheese lunch, so I am pretty much lost for words, you want to have shushi?"
